Jesus. What is the obsession with Mike Leach.
He's a phenomenal coach who turned around 2 historically inept programs to 11 win seasons. The better question is why are we NOT MORE obsessed with hiring this man.

Because there are better coaches available?

I say that as a fan of Leach. I would love to have him as a coach here.

But when you could possibly land a guy that wins like 90% of his games, or another guy who, in like 6 years as a head coach has won four coach of the year titles, you may want to take a closer look at your options before making a decision.

FTR, i never said done deal. I said if Auburn matched the offer he'd stay and that's what happened. Yes there was some powers who helped talks two years ago but i guarantee you if he expresses interest to HY, HY will reciprocate.

Oh, I know. Gus is polarizing. Half the state loves him and half the state hates him. We would be just as divided as we were at the end of Nutt's time here.

Also, his QBs have sucked and offenses been bad. Hard to believe he was ever an offensive guru. If he hadn't hired Kevin Steele then he would have been run out of Auburn years ago.

On Leach, would you be okay with him losing to Portland St in year 4? This board melted when Morris almost lost to them this year.

He's a solid coach with a successful record at places where it is not easy to recruit or win. And he has been doing it for many years against Power 5 opponents.

100% I would have been happy with either of the two coaches you're reffering to there. I'm just saying Leach would be a well qualified hire and there's not much of a reason we should not want to hire this man unless, like you said, there's someone legit better who would come.

Anybody who doesn't have leach in their top 5 at the very minimum is a retard. He wins with loser programs (which we are), and has done it at 2 different stops, and has also shown he can find the next great DC when he hired Alex grinch late in his career. Meaning he isn't totally inept to change.

I would prefer a disciple than himself at this point because young minds breed innovation. Which we need. Though I believe he clearly he still has some in the tank.

I wasn't trying to say you were. I have no clue where everyone stood then or stood now. There's just no way Malzahn is ever going to coach here, IMO. No matter who tries to push him on us. He never was coming in the past, not coming now, not coming in the future.

He is too polarizing.

ETA: And he wouldn't be any better here than Houston Nutt was if here were hired. Hiring Malzahn would be a collosal failure.

He also went 9-4 that year and beat Oregon. With the same schedule that year, Chad Morris might have beat Wyoming.

a bowl pretty much every year and occasional West title? I'm pretty sure that'd be fine with me.

Apparently JCP had it out against Norvell. At least that's what Biddy said on the 247 board.

He said she presses him on "the rumors" and he was open, truthful and honest, yet she kept pressing him and was not on board with him at all.

Geezus... How in the living fuk did the BoT actually let a fricking interim, no experience chick AD make the most important hire at your school??

Any chance he’d jump over officially before the end of the season? Whether it’s Norvell or whoever I’d respect and understand their decision to finish out their regular season. We’d get bad press for it I’m sure, but it seems like it would be a better recruiting decision. I figure we’ll have to wait until December.

Hell we are catching bad press anyway. Way more than FSU firing Taggert after just 2 years. Taggert had a better record than Morris after 2 years.

I thought Chad was coined a player's coach too? At this point a rock out of the lake would have coached better than Chad so anyone is an upgrade IMO.

There’s a big difference between mutual respect between players and coaches and being a players coach.
