This is all I want. My one wish in life is for mike leach to be the coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Say what you want but we would be exciting we would score points and we would win some games. Would we get upset by some teams we probably shouldn’t? Possibly, hell maybe even probably at the beginning of his tenure, but the man is a proven winner everywhere he goes he’s proven he can make an offense work and we would have one of the funnest coaches in all of football roaming our sidelines. Plus we’ve never seen how well he can really recruit considering Arkansas is actually an upgrade from Texas tech or Washington state. Mike leach is our answer!

I'd say we tried the opposite of that with Morris. He wasn't exactly the safe, low ceiling hire.

Right. And I wouldn't say that Bert falls into the 'washed up established guy' role either. Not at least at the time of his hiring.

John L Smith, however...

But Leach lost to Portland St. I don't think you guys have the patience to let Leach build the program and establish his style of football.

We’re done here.

Or instead of hiring a coach that is a 180 of the one being fired, we could hire a coach who runs this high school rpo offense and not have to give an automatic 3-4 year pass for a "rebuild".

By the time you speak of, it will either be a discounted Gus with the majority of his salary still paid via buyout with Auburn or possibly the stank will have wore off baby Bryles, Norvell, or Kiffin.

I'm still not sure I buy in to the fact that players recruited for one style of offense can't be good at another. A good football player is a good football player. It's coaching that matters. I don't believe we have the right coach.

I believe Leach would do better than Morris here.

It's weird. Some of the same fans that think Morris needs to go, one game in to year 2, are the same fans that would have let Mike Anderson have 20 years to build his program.

Most hog fans were patient with Bert so maybe they're just fed up and it really doesn't have anything to do with Morris.

Difference is Bert's first couple teams were a lot more competitive than what we've seen from Chad.

Well, I respectfully disagree. Some offenses work better with different build of players. A road grader running attack needs a different type of build in RB and Oline, they are too slow for Quick Strike O's. I get that some players are interchangeable, but not all...

BTW OP, I would rather have had kiffen. At least we would have been entertained there as well, and he is young enough to cruit better here.

If you could have gotten Kiffin with Kendall Briles, that would have truly been the best case scenario.

Kiffin without Briles coaching offense is still fine, but those two seemed to really work well together.

I love Leach, but at this point I agree with other post, whe takes 4-5 yrs to get the program going full blast and we can't do that again. He also is dogshit at recruiting.

Obviously you want the best of both worlds, a great coach and a great recruiter. That's why I thought Lane (with Briles) would have been so good.

I also think Norvell, especially with his new D corrdinator, is the perfect fit. But that dude must have killed a bus full of nuns or something in the past, because I guess he's untouchable for some reason now.

If Chad loses this weekend, especially if he loses badly, it's basically over already. He won't be able to recover from the fan base (short of beating Bama, which won't happen) and recruits will stop seeing the optimism and find other places to go.

It's sad, but it's true. If he goes 2-3 wins again, just get it over with and say goodbye.

Bert beat our FCS opponent 73-7 in year two. Not off to a good start.

Bert also didn’t have a whole new 11 on offense.

I just rewatched the 4th & 25 game on ESPNU and was reminded just how bad we went down hill after that year.

OLine was atrocious - Better talent being brought in to fix Bert’s lack of recruiting

QB Play Sucked - Better talent has been brought in.
See Starkel & Jefferson

Defensive Line couldn’t get pressure on a peewee team- Better talent being brought in

Secondary- we gave up a 10 yrs cushion at all times. You had a guaranteed 1st down every play. Chief shut that down already.

Nobody could tackle.

Tonight I was reminded just how bad of shape the fat piece of trash left is in. It reminded me to show a little grace as Chad has his work cut out for him, and I think he will slowly start improving. Much like Lat said, if you want instant gratification you might as well not watch this year.
