This was objectively a horrible move unless you're a bean counter, or one of our brain dead fans that always says "but the money!"

Twenty five years, zero conference championships in football and a losing conference record. How exactly was this a good move? If your argument is about money then save your breath, none of the fans get any kind of benefit from Arkansas getting a big check from the SEC every year. I'd love to hear a cogent argument that moving to the SEC was some brilliant move.

I always wondered why they didn't call someone who hooks a lot of fish, but doesn't catch them, a Hooker....

We had to save that word for something more important

Not a single refutation of the argument.

Seriously, how was moving to the SEC a good move? Give me one reason other than "money."

I think the move is questionable, but Texas was determined to frick up the SWC, so Frank made a choice. The SEC wasn't as good back then, so I doubt he thought we'd struggle so much. And I still believe that much of our struggles are our own fault.

Why are you laughing? Do you get a check of athletic funds?

Enh, this isn't one of your better efforts. Still its the off season and you don't want to blow through your best material and have to make it through summer without anything.

I think Broyles was convinced the SWC was a dead man walking conference... and it certainly didn't have long to live when he made that decision.

We had two choices to stay in big time football if that happened. Either go to the SEC which did want us, or hope that the Big 8 would take us and most behind the scenes folks have said pretty flat out the Big 8 didn't want us.

It took TCU decades to get back to a P5 conference. Houston, Rice, SMU still haven't made it back to the big leagues yet.

I like to think of it as the SWC was a plane about to crash with not enough parachutes for everyone onboard. We grabbed the first one and jumped.

I like the argument. Money doesn't buy Championships but Championships make money.

I think everyone knows being in the Big 12 would be better for us. However the Big 12 is on borrowed time and there will soon only be 4 major conferences. There’s zero point for us to move now.

For you? Because I see our administration making money, paying themselves more and creating 6 figure positions for their friends, but the fans just get zero championships and a losing conference record after 25 years. As a fan I would rather experience a championship than create pointless positions just to spend money.

Objectively it's a brilliant move... unless you're one of the dumbasses who thinks that sports don't exist to support the University :)
