“I haven’t done anything yet, we just started the season…” - Love this dude. Grown man already.

Yeah we hit the lottery with this dude. Freshmen like this don't come around very often.

His recruitment was so fun to follow. So many people saying he was the next great Calipari PG, generational talent.

I watched a few of his HS games and he would take over late with key shots and just finish games over and over again.

The game has slowed down for him. I wish the same would happen for Thomas. Thomas still looks rushed and forced at times.

He waddles around like an old man when he's not killing it.

It is refreshing to see him go about his business the way he does. Pretty rare these days to not see any player of his caliber in any sport clown for the camera after a good play. Kudos to him for being humble and showing some maturity as a freshman.

We’re 13-2, he’s averaging 20 pts and over 5 assists per game and playing a lot of minutes. If we didn’t have him ant PG, we would probably have Auburn’s record at best with our schedule. Are you joking? Oh, he also went 11-12 from FT line last night to ice the game and two of those came right after hurting his ankle as Ole Miss was gaining momentum. Name a better PG in the country period right now because I haven’t seen anyone who brings it like this dude every game. Especially as a freshman (who is probably not playing at 100% all of the time because he has to do so much).

Quite often. The first Hog basketball game I attended was against So. Miss in 1978 in Pine Bluff. Moncrief scored 39. So, I've seen a lot of games and have first hand experience with the old man waddle. Acuff is among our elite and may well prove to be elite among them. No joke.

I hope Cal can keep his playing time in the lower 30s.

Fair enough. But describe the “old man waddle”. Genuinely think I’ll get a laugh out of this.

I could be wrong but I think he’s referring to like in the first few seconds of this video. He can be balls to the wall during playing and as soon as it slows down, like for a free throw or something, he just looks like he’s just shuffling his feet and kind of waddling side to side. A lot of it is probably due to leg/ankle soreness. Pretty sure I walk like that a good bit with my bad knees. Couldn’t find any videos showing full body waddle.

Watch the way he walks during a dead ball, like he's so tired he can only shuffle along, swaying side to side. I can't think of a basketball analogy, but it's similar to Earl Campbell. He'd break off a 20 yd run, get up very slowly, limp back to the huddle, then run over and by people to the house.

I’ll give - we do still have stretches where we go into “zombie mode” if things aren’t going our way sometimes. But it’s pretty rare (for him only being a freshman) when he isn’t killing it and I see a lot of upperclassmen not helping him by moving without the ball and I think that’s when he gets slower and sloppier. JMO. Either way, dude is a total stud and critiques himself constantly. Was very impressed to hear him call himself out for making bad passes at the end of the game.

I think this is just his game for the most part. His midrange game is awesome.

Yeah, I have seen him go over to the bench and kind of huff and puff and look dog tired and then go back in and go Beast Mode. That makes sense. He really impressed me last night though - Beard is a very good coach and we all know he had them keyed in on him and even after Acuff hurt his ankle, he closed strong for a conf. road W. Still cautiously optimistic because it’s early but I’m definitely glad that we’ve played the OOC teams that we have prior to league play.

Meaningless point of data but... I checked the score before turning off my phone at like 9pm to wind down before bed and saw we were up by like 6 or something with quite a bit of time left in the second half.

I went to bed confident that I would wake up to a Hog win. That would not have been the case for any team of ours in recent memory during conference play.

I do think Darius has some sort of hip flexor issue.

In the Tennessee game when he had to come out they were working on his hip it appeared.

Hopefully it's nothing that will hamper him moving forward.
