It makes no sense at this point, however if someone goes off in the next 25 days, might shut it down with an “injury” our people can’t find but their doctors back home found.

Compared to Saturday and was shocking how much faster that team was on defense and how much effort was given on every play.
Nutt had a great eye for NFL bodies and players that were full of intensity and speed. His players would also run through walls for him. I know a couple guys who played for him, even today, still love him, despite his flaws.
Almost every player who ever played for Gruden said the same thing. They loved him. Heard former player say they'd go through fire for him if he told them to because he was such a great motivational figure.
Not saying Gruden should be the next hire, but he Definatly knows what NFL talent looks like and would drive players. He's just a gigantic gamble and Ark need a an absolute sure thing next as it's FB coach.

This sounds exactly like a deal I would expect from HY.

Once again, I don’t want Chad coaching them, or guiding them. But as far as finding them, he is great at it. He can’t do anything with them other than signing them. That’s why I said GM.
Going off of Chad's last game at Arkansas and going off of Sam's game versus Texas in his second year...
Two deep that were the same on both teams...
Offense (10 out of 22 were Morris)
QB KJ Jefferson
WR Treylon Burks
WR Tyson Morris
WR Trey Knox
LT Myron Cunningham
LG Brady Latham
C Ricky Stromberg, Shane Clenin
RG Beaux Limmer
RT Dalton Wagner
RB None
TE None
Defense (6 out of 22)
DE None
DT Isaiah Nichols
DT None
Jack/DE None
LB Bumper Pool
LB Grant Morgan
CB LaDarrius Bishop
S Joe Foucha
S Malik Chavis
NB None
So 15 players out of 44 on the two deep were contributors in Sam's first "decent" season/win.
Also note on the offensive line these playing weights...
Myron Cunningham
Missouri 2019: 290 pounds
Texas 2021: 325 pounds
Brady Latham
Missouri 2019: 284 pounds
Texas 2021: 305 pounds
Ricky Stromberg
Missouri 2019: 266 pounds
Texas 2021: 311 pounds
Shane Clenin
Missouri 2019: 302 pounds
Texas 2021: 325 pounds
Beaux Limmer
Missouri 2019: 293 pounds
Texas 2021: 300 pounds
Dalton Wagner
Missouri 2019: 302 pounds
Texas 2021: 330 pounds

Ok so back to the search.... I've been a little busy since it all went down and haven't had time to get on here and post my thoughts.... here is kind of how I see it all:
Tiers of the search and how serious are we about winning:
Tier 1.... throw caution into the wind and throw money and resources at it:
get the name and give them what they need:
1. Urban Meyer
2. Jon Gruden
3. Nick Saban
4. Dan Lanning
5. Dabo Swinney
6. James Franklin
I think every coach on this list is a pipe dream except possibly Meyer and Gruden. Only two that are currenty available that might have a desire to get back in the game. How much? IDK. I don't see Lanning leaving the resources at Oregon nor do I see Dabo leaving Clemson on his own. Franklin? Depends on how hot the seat gets I guess.
Probably a couple of other names you could throw in here but all of them are unlikely and a reach.
Tier 2: solid hire.... give the resources and it can be built.
1. Jeff Traylor
2. GJ Kinne
3. Ryan Silverfield
4. Rhett Lashlee
5. Barry Lunney Jr.
6. Lance Leipold
7. Jedd Fisch
8. John Sumrall
9. Alex Golesh
10. Matt Rhule
11. Gundy
I like Golesh, Kinne, and Traylor best out of this list. I know Arkansans are divided on Lunney and Lashlee.
Personally I'd take Lunney over Lashlee and I know I'm in the minority... however I think either would be an upgrade over Pittman.
Tier 3: Coordinator taking a gamble
1. Petrino
2. Collin Klein
3. Taylor Mouser
4. Glenn Schumann
5. Gus
6. Al Golden
Not sure we go this route unless it's Bobby P and that would be riding the wave of him salvaging the season presumably. Seems to be some intrigue with Schumann but I wonder if that's largely because of how bad our D has been.
End of the day I fee like our guy is probably in that second tier.
I just kind of feel like the big money in NWA wants Lashlee. I don't have inside info on that.... just the feeling I get.
I think Traylor is the best program builder in the bunch but in today's game we may not be patient enough for that.
Something else to think about is how other openings affect this list moving forward.
OK State will be spending a lot of money I think. Kinne may fit their wish list well.
If Florida and or Clemson open the landscape changes quite a bit...
lots of time to speculate.....
we have a history of getting football hires wrong and very few examples of getting it right.
Example.... Gundy would have been a great hire last go-round.... now we would look about 10 years late to the party.
so..... WHO KNOWS!?!?!?!?!!?

Good post for discussion though I hope many on your lists are even up for consideration.
First off, any person who has donor or board connections is going to be “considered”. Meaning it gets brought up to HY or hiring committee and they probably respond with “yeah we’ll talk with their agent”. Some of that is to placate those with $$. That gets translated on message boards to “I know a guy that said they were looking at Gus, RL, etc”.
Secondly, our job is pretty attractive on a number of fronts depending on the coach and their own personal preferences. Low cost of living, nice areas, smaller population with amenities in line with a larger city or metro. Also low expectations. You average 9-10 wins and it’ll be a long time before people start expecting a championship. Oregon is probably a similar situation. Low pressure but high upside.
Lastly any coach that has watched our film can see we aren’t void of talent. NIL/ transfer rule can turn a roster around in 1 year anyway to address deficiencies. This isn’t a 4 year re-build as you recruit kids and hope they pan out in a few years.
Given what we saw with Coach Cal this should be an easy hire to nail. Results are never guaranteed but it should be solid on paper. The current state of CFB actually plays into our favor. No need to worry about lock down recruiting (main reason I wanted Lane) or ties to specific regions. Hire someone who knows how to build a program with the right support staff and let them work.

Yeah I mean.... I'm sure some on my list won't even me contacted. That's just my "it would make sense to me" list.
Talent-wise we aren't that far away in my opinion. We need a defensive over-haul and maybe an elite WR
Our DL doesn't have the SEC war daddies that you need to compete in this conference.
I can't really tell a lot about our secondary and LB's right now because we don't get enough pressure on QB's to allow them cover time or to keep OL's off the LB's in the run game.

Our NIL situation isn’t even that bad. We have a top 20 paid roster. And any insufficiencies for NIL is because our boosters didn’t have faith in Pittman. It’s really as easy fix.

Exactly. We paid KJ what $800k the first year NIL started becoming a thing. I’m sure it would be beyond frustrating to see how much money we’ve pissed away, while acting like we don’t have the funds to compete.
I will give them credit for letting some guys walk, presumably over NIL, knowing they could replace the production at a lower cost.

Said this for years, which is why not firing Pittman last year is a negligence that can not be overlooked. He needs to go.

I just read this and I still think we could do better, I think Petrino would be a better choice.
SDS Rhett

Per Feldman’s report, Lashlee has the “support” of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who is a former Razorback himself and an Arkansas booster. The report goes as far as to say Jones is “squarely behind” the effort to get Lashlee in charge of Arkansas football.

Rhett checks a lot of boxes. Not sure what his ceiling is. When we've been successful we've had someone who's been innovative. Is he that? Is he obsessed with football? Thats what we need.

Agreed. Outside of some of the splash, probably fantasy names out there, I think Bobby should be the guy. Any selection is a gamble, but I view him as the least risky gamble. We've seen what he has done here before and that was before legal pay to play.

Cryptic messages on a different board a fun to read. Some of those guys are wizards at creating a cult like following while never being right about anything
I’d much rather have BP than RL for several reasons. One of which BP will have a shorter window and we move on quicker if it doesn’t work out. I’m afraid RL would be successful enough (7-8 wins) to hang around for 6+ years and further divide the fan base when we need to make a change.
