My doubt outweighs my belief on anything about Saban here
But for the sake of something to talk about, I’m wondering why a phone call couldn’t have been used

Probably offering Saban commercial spots for WalMart, Tyson and JB Hunt as part of this comp

Saban has the same politics as the Walton lady. She could buy us a championship with a rounding error of her net worth.

Yeah SMU is terrible this year. They supposedly have this huge nil budget however fresh off a CFP season they ranked 32nd in recruiting and 42nd in transfer ranking. Large reason why they look so untalented this season.

It’s going to come down to a GM who can work deals and get transfers. This is baby NFL. Without a salary cap.

You make an interesting point that is overlooked. I can see HC’s spending less time recruiting or looking for transfers. Rely more on a GM to assemble a roster. Not that I have any faith we’ll get that hire right either.

That’s what I’ve been saying for about 4 years, and why Dan Mullen with a good GM will have a contender.
Also the next coach will get a 5 year contract. That’s 69+ for Bobby by the end of the contract and 58+ for Mullens.
Dillingham if he takes the job will just be money searching, which is what we’ve had with the past two coaches. Yiu can pretend Pittman loved the helmet, but he signed Sexton real quick after one good year with Chads players.
The conversation no one wants to have is Chad Morris will be an exceptional GM for someone that isn’t us. He isn’t a great or even good coach but he knows what a team needs and who can be good and great.

Absolutely not.
That dude thought his OL in the SEC needed to trim down and play at 280 pounds.

Didn't check this for correctness but, man, this says a lot if true. Ball security, or lack thereof, is just another symptom of poor coaching on basic stuff. I never played past high school but I remember, if someone fumbled during a game, having to carry a ball around school for the next week while teammates constantly tried to catch you off- guard in the halls and classrooms and knock it out of your grasp. And if you did let it get taken away from you, you were running in practice until you puked..

While turnover margin can vary from year to year, fumbles are a direct reflection of how hard you practice.
If you practice lightly and go no contact often, you’re going to have discipline and fumbling issues on game day.
It always seemed to be pinned on one player or another, whether Trelon Smith or Rocket or Dubinion, but Pittman was the one constant.

Yet Pittman won with them, he can spot talent, he can’t coach it.

Turnovers, penalties and low effort. For the limited success Pittman had here it’s amazing/frustrating this is what held them back from being an 8-9 win team.
Tired of fans and experts talking about NIL and our lack of talent. We have enough talent on the roster to be at minimum 4-1. The D doesn’t look good, but hard to fully evaluate when guys displaying some of the worst effort I’ve ever seen on a football field.
Fixing the 3 things above probably has us bowl eligible this year. NIL disparity should impact how many wins you get above 7 or 8. We use NIL to justify why we barely make a bowl which is bullshite.

I’ve been saying that for years. Lack of nil does not excuse the lack of discipline and playing down to lower competition who has even less nil than we do. Or losing to libertys 3rd string qb.

Absolutely right. The NIL excuse is really the lowest common denominator of talking points.
NIL didn't lose:
Auburn - 2021
A&M - 2022
Liberty - 2022
Missouri - 2022
BYU - 2023
Mississippi State - 2023
Oklahoma St. - 2024
Memphis - 2025
Those are probably the most egregious losses considering the caliber of opponent.

That 2022 team should've won 10 games at minimum when you go back and look at them. Wasn't that the year we played LSU in Fayetteville with it snowing where we should've beat them with a backup QB in too?

Yes. I didn't include that game because of the QB situation and LSU was good enough to win the SEC West and finish 10-4.
Though Pittman did pass up a FG early (would have gone up 6-0), in a game where points were at a premium.

Speaking of Vandy, I'm surprised their coach hasn't been mentioned yet.
