This goes out to anyone lurking from another board. Not the level headed folks we have here.
We aren’t hiring anyone till after the season. Quit sky screaming that we are falling behind. Firing Pittman early bought us time to get aligned on funds, targets and certainly talk with agents behind the scenes about who’s a legit candidate.
Anyone who thinks we should pull the trigger on a coach now, even one currently unemployed is an idiot. The current staff would all bail. The product we put on the field would more embarrassing than it already is. Leading to the new coach starting out in a deeper hole.

God damn Arkansas is stupid offering 10 mil per to a guy who was just paid 50 mil to go away with the majority being paid by the apparel sponsor.
I'm sure they will lock in a 50 mil buyout+ guaranteed buy out on top.
Behind the times per usual the future model is going to see a reduction in HC salaries,
increases in assistants pay and every other penny that can be used toward NIL and revenue sharing. Basically the NFL model.
All this for Bert 2.0 with shitty QB play.
They may as well make a run at Brian Kelly if this falls thru.

Reality is big money and a huge name was said to be in play before Bert, Chaggy, and Pittman were hired.
At least duckman's grumours were entertaining, this nonsense is just cruel.

Franklin is very much in play. $10M is the number. I don’t understand bc if his salary is offset, what’s the point in that number?
Also hearing Jimbo. And if Jimbo is the guy, I’m officially out Arkansas football. Forever.
I’m also the one that got Briles fired btw. Believe it or not. But the traces come back to me.

If challenged, a court would probably rule that Franklin had to make a good faith effort to negotiate the best salary he could and if there’s evidence he didn’t then he’s not entitled to recoup the difference from Penn State. Meaning he will probably need to make an average head coach salary for whatever conference he ends up in, which is trending toward $10M in the SEC.

$10M isn’t Arkansas money tho… let’s not kid ourselves. And if he was worth that, they wouldn’t have fired him, from a legal standpoint.

what kind of brag is this? So, you are basically saying..."I am the reason we wound up hiring Enos, our offense has sucked, and this is the outcome?"
Congrats????

well, I have definitely let my peon voice be heard by a few BOT members as to what I think needs to be done and the reasoning behind it. FWIW!

Yeah. This is a retarded flex. Briles was actually a decent OC. He made KJ a serviceable QB. Was able to utilize talent with what we had on the field. Made Burks a huge weapon. Getting him fired, if you actually did, was a dumb move

The bottom line is that nobody better than Petrino wants to coach at Arkansas. We can float out stupid money, and we still aren’t going to get a better coach than Petrino, because LSU, Florida, Penn State, UCLA, and others are also looking for a coach. We need to sign Petrino to a 2 or 3 year contract now. Once the musical chairs start, there will be many more. The light at the end of the tunnel is a freight train, because we aren’t serious about our football program.

This. Every goddamn time we have had a coaching search in any major sport during my lifetime, I've seen "rumor has it that one of the Waltons is now heavily invested in the coaching search".
Call me when that happens.

If we go with Bobby, is Mel Tucker still too toxic to pick up as even a DC?

Worked out pretty well for Calipari with big money and in year 2 we're national title contenders. Can happen at any time.

Probably not stated the best, but my point was that none of these message board rumors about big money end up being true. If it were to happen, it would be similar to what happened with Cal. We learn about it after the deal is basically done and everyone is caught off guard.
Anything else is just folks looking for attention and/or clicks. Billionaires ain't blowing up a deal by leaking it to Cletus on Hawgballs.com weeks in advance.

That's true, actual big money stays quiet and behind the scenes until it's done.

Nobody is stupid enough to hire Jimbo, not even Arkansas.

We’re not hiring Jimbo lmao.
Franklin
Gruden
Golesh
Fleck
Dillingham
I’m pretty confident one of those will be the guy.
