Ole fricking Miss wins a national title before Arkansas in baseball. Douche university of the century. Bearly squeaked into the regionals and then went on a tear. I’m ticked. Someone give me some Hog positivity ????

Never in my life would I see two Mississippi schools win it back to back before Arkansas won it.

The world upside down.

Ole Miss was 24-19 overall and 7-14 in the SEC on May 1st after the Arkansas series.

They go 18-4 the rest of the season and 10-1 in NCAA tournament.

Ole Miss was also 2 swings away from sweeping us in our regular season series.

They only gave up 2, 6, and 4 runs in those three games, two of which we won. In game 2 we only had 3 runs going into the 9th before Diggs hit his walkoff with runners on base, and in game 3 Tygart had fallen apart in the 9th and the bases were loaded when Elko flew out to win the game.

They stranded 2 or 3 base runners numerous times in our series, and somehow our pitchers and defense kept getting out of it. Their fans were livid at how they kept stranding base runners, which seemed to be a constant with them. They overcame their shitty luck streak and the worm turned for them shortly after our series.

The sooner you accept we’re actually closer to those two schools than any of the other schools in the West, the better you’ll sleep at night.

Think about this next time everyone religiously defends Van Horn. Yeah, he's a great coach... But he's never winning a title.

Since 2009 there have been 6 different SEC schools win a National Championship in baseball (OM, MSU, Vandy x2, Florida, USC x2, LSU).

Pretty frustrating that we’re an elite baseball program but can’t seem to break through while programs like Ole Miss, State, and Vandy have.

I can understand your sentiment on Ole Miss and Vandy…but State has always been just a matter of time. Those fans have been waiting much longer than Arkansas. I’d actually call State the OG of SEC baseball, not LSU.

Interesting. What is considered mid-tier?

Ah, true. I’d forgotten the level of success they had under Ron Polk.

Point remains about Ole Miss and Vandy.

It's baseball man. Sure it would be fun to win a natty, but it's semi-regional sport to pass the time between basketball and football. Most of the country probably doesn't know it exists at the college level. The really talented guys in the sport skip it all together.

Elite 8 in basketball > natty in baseball. If you don't believe me check the TV ratings. The CWS finals might get 2 million viewers on a good year. Our elite 8 game vs Duke had like 10 million.

Hell, we had more than 2 million viewers for our regular season win over Kentucky.

Mississippi State has never won a title in any sport until last year. They were way overdue. When it did happen the whole football stadium was packed to watch the team present the trophy. They suffered enough and deserved some relief.

Arkansas would love to win a title in the three big spots in this century. Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas A&M have not done so this century.

There is starting to be a trend of more guys going to college now though. And there is a track record of college players being more ready for MLB and making it to the show more frequently.

I would expect with NIL college baseball might start getting more talent to campus. There are players in basketball who go straight to the G-League too but college basketball is still pretty popular.
