Me too. He got fired for going 8-5 at Houston. Kind of the same situation as Odom, in that he was fired for doing an decent job at a school that has unrealistic expectations.

Except he wouldn't be running a program here. He would be running an offense. And his offenses are less than inspiring.

He can't be worse than Craddock. Like all of you....well most of you, I prefer Briles. Long would also be a solid hire. Interestingly enough, Bazell tweeted out this morning that Rhett Lashlee has not removed his name from consideration, but that he has not been contacted by Pittman. Not sure why he felt the need to get that out unless there was somebody pushing his name.

Pittman said during the recruiting PC that he hoped to have an OC named by next Monday or Tuesday after this weekend’s games are over which I thought was weird considering the three names we’ve heard aren’t coaching this weekend

Briles is easily the best choice. I heard someone on the radio today say the long interview went really bad. Applesauce will be the hire though because he was a shitty head coach, and brought saban coffee. We should just hire butch Jones if that is the qualifiers. Butch coaches offense, was a HC IN THE SEC no less, and won 9 games. Recruited at a high level, and has wiped Saban's arse for like 4 years.
But anyone who has any clue knows Lyle sucks, and if you are paying attention then you should realize applewhite is not some offensive guru, but will be picked because he was a shite HC for like a year and a half. I'm somewhat pissed we are passing over Briles who is far and away the best option.

If Lincoln Riley is heading to Dallas then it could be one of his co-offensive coordinators. I imagine it will be Briles or Applewhite, though. Anybody know what kind of recruiter Applewhite is?

I just want someone who is smart enough to look at the opponents defense, figure out what will work against it, quick to recognize and make in game adjustments, keep drives alive and scores enough to win.

Bazell, bazell was pushing his name. He does that quite often. Didn't he push Gus last time?

Based on what I know about the guy he's not great at recruiting. he's ok at it probably.

247 board guys with "sources" saying they think Applewhite is beginning to look like the guy.
I for one hope this is totally wrong.
Just hope it's Briles. Be happy with Long also, but I juts don't know if he fits with Sam.

Folks, I like Briles also, but there may be more to his story than most let on and our Admin may have backed off.
We simply do not know enough about this for sure. I am not against 2nd, even 3rd chances either. But I do trust Pittman at this point to get this right and make corrections as needed.

Louisiana kid, who could also recruit Texas well and coached under Tom Herman, Mack brown and Nick Saban
Won 7 and 8 games in 2 years as a head coach at Houston.
This would be a home run hire
