It kicks off this week.
Is there a better matchup than 3A #6 Smackover @ 2A #1 Junction City?
Both of these teams have D1 prospects and two prospects already committed to Arkansas. For smaller schools, that field will be littered with speed and size.
Wish I lived closer, I would go.
Another good matchup in LA is El Dorado @ Camden-Fairview. CF whipped up on El Dorado last year before the Wildcats got it together and won their 4th State Championship in 6 years.
In Central Arkansas, Bryant takes on Benton. Old rivalry, but not sure how big it really is, considering both teams combined for 13 wins a year ago.
In The River Valley, Charleston hosts Shiloh Christian. Hog commit Ty Storey starts his senior campaign against Crosschurch's high school in its first season without Josh Floyd. I'd expect Charleston to roll. Part of me really believes the top 3A teams in the state this year are pretty solid and can compete with teams up into 5A ball.
A big opener down around the Ouchita Mountains is Nashville visiting Hope. Hope won 10 games a season ago, the most they've won this decade. Nashville is usually a machine, but had a down season a year ago for their standards only winning 6 games. Just the 3rd time since 2000 The Scrappers didn't win at least 10 games.
What other big games you guys got going, maybe some of your former high schools?

As in D1 recruits, not very but always huge which is why it's played in War Memorial. I'll be there.

The Hot Springs Trojans are hosting nonconference rival Lake Hamilton Wolves.
When I went to school, the football team was a former powerhouse that grossly underachieved for decades (and had its talent snatched up by nearby rivals), had a recent basketball championship to boast about and had just won three straight track championships.
I'm glad the story changed for me when I started college at the University of Arkansas.

Pushing 30,000 attendance. Didn't quite get there last year I heard, might this year.
ETA: No D1 athletes involved, but there is no game on slate that is bigger to two towns than Rison vs. Fordyce. It's a loooong running war.

"Not sure how big it really is" is in reference to state championship implications.

My Badgers continue to run an antiquated offense, and has a Secondary that makes Arkansas look like an all world defense. I am beginning to wonder if we practice defense at all.

Vulgar vandalism; Panther statue tainted as Salt Bowl looms

NLR Fire Dept.: 10 injured in I-40 EB wreck involving 2 #NLRHS buses:
A multi-vehicle collision involving two school buses and five other vehicles left 10 injured and stalled eastbound Interstate 40 traffic Thursday afternoon in the North Little Rock area.
Arkansas State Police and North Little Rock Fire Department officials said the vehicles collided at the John F. Kennedy Boulevard exit, mile marker 153, shortly after 3:30 p.m.
North Little Rock Fire Department Battalion Chief Phil Pounders said the North Little Rock High School football team was riding in both of the buses involved in the accident.
Pounders said five other vehicles — including a tractor-trailer, two trucks, a van and a Toyota Camry — were involved in the accident, and 10 people were injured. Five people were transported to the hospital by ambulance, while the other five transported themselves to local hospitals.
A total of 115 people were involved in the accident, according to Pounders.
Pounders said no students were injured, but one coach who was driving a bus was seriously injured. The driver of the Camry was also transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Two passengers of the Camry, one child and one adult, were also among the injured.
It wasn't immediately known what precipitated the accident.
Danny Straessle, spokesman for the Arkansas State Department of Highways and Transportation, said both lanes of I-40 eastbound are currently closed. Officials were clearing the scene as of 5 p.m., but the rush-hour traffic remained stalled in the area.
North Little Rock Superintendent Kelly Rodgers said the students were taken to Belwood Elementary School to be examined by physicians and given food and water.
North Little Rock Athletic Director Gary Davis said the football team is scheduled to play Little Rock Catholic High School at 7:30 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium.
