Grayson Wilson - QB - 2025

Wilson came into Friday with a spotlight on him and the Arkansas commit had a very good day. His mechanics are sound and he throws a really catchable ball. Receivers had no problem handling the passes he was throwing them and his accuracy, particularly on short and immediate routes, was impressive.

Wilson has plenty of arm strength to get the ball down the field and, once he adjusted to the speed of his receivers, his passes found their mark.

LOOKS THE PART: Grayson Wilson

Wilson put up huge numbers at North Little Rock (Ark.) Central Arkansas Christian this past season and while some of his passes sailed during the combine, it’s clear the 2025 three-star has some special qualities. He’s all of 6-foot-3, the ball comes out so easily and effortlessly.

The Arkansas commit is best when his dual-threat capabilities come into play so while sitting in the pocket and just throwing it isn’t his specialty, it still looked pretty good.

Arkansas landed its fourth commitment for the Class of 2025 on Saturday when Atlanta (Texas) athlete Markeylin Batton went public with his decision. Batton, 5-9, 170, chose the Razorbacks over Missouri, Texas Tech, Michigan State, Oregon State, Houston and others.

Batton, a cousin of former Hog and NFL great Jason Peters, was recruited to Arkansas by running backs coach Jimmy Smith but could play offense or defense in Fayetteville. As a junior, Batton posted 81 rushes for 610 yards and 9 touchdowns while adding 16 receptions for 255 yards and 4 touchdowns in the passing game. Defensively, he added 17 tackles, 2 pass breakups and 1 forced fumble.

"When I first came up there (in July), it was just great, so I just thought yeah, I'll jump in the boat," Batton said. "Me and Coach (Jimmy) Smith are cool. Real cool. I got an offer for running back, but we really don't know. I can play whatever."

Batton attended the Razorbacks' cookout in late July and was expected to be back in January. He will visit Fayetteville again soon.

"I was supposed to come back up there, but they said something about the junior days being over so I'll have to get back up there in the spring."

According to 247Sports, Batton is a three-star prospect who ranks 54th among all running backs and 97th overall in the state of Texas. The Composite rankings are similar, listing Batton as the No. 52 running back nationally and No. 102 in the Lone Star State.

With his early decision now out of the way, Batton said he and his family have no major plans to celebrate the commitment but is ecstatic to be on board.

"Not really, just chill now," Batton said. "My family is fired up."

In addition to Batton, the Hogs own commitments from three-star quarterback Grayson Wilson of Maumelle (Ark.) Central Arkansas Christian, four-star running back Jamarion Parker of St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter, and kicker Evan Noel of Bay St. Louis (Miss.).

Atlanta (Texas) 2025 running back Markeylin Batton has committed to Arkansas, he announced on Friday afternoon.

Batton chose the Razorbacks over offers from Missouri, Texas Tech, Houston, Michigan State and a handful of other programs.

“After great conversation with @FBCoachJSmith I’m blessed to say I’m committed to the University of Arkansas,” he wrote on Twitter.

Batton is the fourth commitment for the Razorbacks in the 2025 cycle, joining four-star running back Jamarion Parker, three-star quarterback Grayson Wilson, and kicker Evan Noel.

In two seasons at the varsity level, Batton has rushed for 1,270 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging better than 7.5 yards per carry. As a junior this fall, he emerged as a receiving threat though, hauling in 16 catches for 255 yards and four touchdowns.

Batton also stars on defense, where he totaled 17 tackles and a pair of passes defended from his cornerback spot.

Arkansas landed a massive commitment for the Class of 2025 on Wednesday when Marion (Ark.) offensive lineman/defensive lineman Carius Curne announced his college decision.

Curne, 6-4, 300, chose the Hogs over Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi State and others. He is the Razorbacks' fifth commitment for the 2025 cycle. Arkansas will determine Curne's position at a later date.

According to 247Sports, Curne is the No. 175 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 19 offensive tackle in the land, and the top player in the Natural State. He was recruited to Fayetteville by Sam Pittman, Eric Mateos, and Deke Adams.

Evaluation by Hudson Standish:

Stout two-way lineman with recruiting interest on both sides of the ball who burst onto the scene during the college summer camp season between his sophomore and junior years. Displays impressive movement ability at offensive tackle. Owns valuable two-way snaps on both lines of scrimmage. Possesses virtually ready-to-play size in the 6-foot-4, 300-pound range as a high school junior, along with adequate length to remain outside or move to a guard role. Physical tools also translate to defense, including varying schemes. Owns multi-sport context thanks to track and field (throws). Through his junior campaign, we believe his best spot in the long term is somewhere on the offensive line, while acknowledging the potential to play either way. Projects as a high-major LOS presence who could develop into an NFL Draft candidate.

DW's Take: 247Sports has Curne as the top player in the state for 2025 while the Composite goes with the next guy on this list. My personal list would also have Curne in the top spot, for whatever that's worth. While there's no doubt Curne can play offense at the SEC level, I think his longterm future might be on the defensive side, where he offers prototypical size, incredible explosiveness, above-average lateral quickness and short-area twitch, above-average snap anticipation and get-off -- there's just a lot to like about a guy who runs a 4.3 in the 5-10-5 and deadlifts 630. While you can't blame anyone for wanting Curne on offense, I think he's one of the best defensive prospects to come out of Arkansas in my time covering the Hogs. Curne is an incredible two-way talent.

Marion (Ark.) four-star offensive lineman Carius Curne has committed to Arkansas, he announced on Wednesday.

Curne chose the Razorbacks over offers from Ole Miss, Georgia, SMU, LSU, Missouri and a handful of other programs.

Sam Pittman and his staff made the local prospect one of their top early targets in the 2025 class, and have won out with his commitment.

“I’m going to have to say Arkansas right now,” Curne told On3’s OMSpirit earlier this month, when asked which school is currently recruiting him the hardest. “Of course, Ole Miss is recruiting me hard, but the hardest is Arkansas.”

The 6-foot-5, 288-pounder is the No. 241 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 16 offensive lineman and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Arkansas.

Curne gives the Razorbacks two commitments in the past four weeks, joining Atlanta (Texas) 2025 running back Markeylin Batton.

They are the fourth and fifth commitments for the Razorbacks in the 2025 cycle, joining four-star running back Jamarion Parker, three-star quarterback Grayson Wilson, and kicker Evan Noel.

In two seasons at the varsity level, Batton has rushed for 1,270 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging better than 7.5 yards per carry. As a junior this fall, he emerged as a receiving threat though, hauling in 16 catches for 255 yards and four touchdowns.

Following the latest shakeup in the Rivals ratings, Arkansas’ 2025 recruiting class has moved up in the national rankings.

As of Sunday, the Razorbacks rank 20th in the country, sandwiched between North Carolina (19) and Florida (21).

The ratings update was favorable to the Hogs, as their quarterback commit — Central Arkansas Christian’s Grayson Wilson — was bumped from a 5.6 three-star to a 5.8 four-star.

So far in the class, Arkansas has five total commitments — three of whom are four-star recruits: Wilson, offensive lineman Carius Curne of Marion and running back Jamarion Parker from St. Louis, Missouri.

Curne is Arkansas' highest-ranked recruit, as he comes in at No. 206 in the latest edition of the Rivals 250 on Tuesday.

The other two recruits already in the fold are three-star athlete Markeylin Batton of Atlanta, Texas, and two-star kicker Evan Noel of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

One recruit to keep an eye on is four-star safety Marcus Wimberly from Bauxite. He had previously been committed to Arkansas but reopened his recruitment on Dec. 1. He has offers from Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss and others. A visit to Arkansas is scheduled for March 8.

If Wimberly decides to join the fold again, it would jump the Hogs to No. 16 in the country, ahead of Texas A&M and behind SMU.

It’s worth noting that a lot of teams ahead of the Hogs have more commitments already in their classes. Only three —Miami, Texas A&M and Florida State — have less with four a piece.

Notre Dame is currently ranked No. 1 with 17 total commits in the class so far. Clemson (No. 4, 10 commits), Oklahoma (No. 5, 10 commits) and Penn State (No. 6, 11 commits) are the other schools with double-digits pledges.

That trend of fewer high school recruits is one of the reasons Arkansas’ 2024 class was ranked as low as it was, as the Razorbacks finished No. 39, second-to-last in the SEC ahead of only Vanderbilt.

The Hogs only took 16 commits in the class, though four — four-star wide receivers Courtney Crutchfield and Ashton Bethel-Roman, four-star running back Jadan Baugh and four-star offensive lineman Kai Greer — were late de-commitments toward the end of the cycle.

Arkansas lost its top commitment for the Class of 2025 on Monday when Marion (Ark.) two-way lineman Carius Curne went public with his decision to reopen his recruitment. Curne's announcement comes less than two months after his commitment to the Razorbacks (Feb. 7).

"I have decided to de-commit from the University of Arkansas," Curne said in a tweet. "I have the utmost respect for the coaching staff and appreciate their hard work during my recruitment. I hope that everyone will respect my decision as I attempt to do what is best for me and my family."

Curne initially chose the Razorbacks over an offer list that includes Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Missouri and several others, telling HawgSports at the time that "the people of Arkansas" is what swayed him to jump on board.

According to 247Sports, Curne is the nation's No. 183 overall recruit, 21st among all offensive tackle prospects, and the No. 1 overall prospect in the Natural State for the Class of 2025. The Composite rankings also list him as a four-star, 122nd in the nation, No. 11 among all offensive tackle prospects, and the top-ranked player in the state.

Curne was recruited to Fayetteville by Arkansas defensive line coach Deke Adams and newly-hired offensive line coach Eric Mateos, though we believe defense was Curne's expected position in college.

Arkansas lost a key piece of its recruiting class on Monday as four-star offensive lineman Carius Curne de-committed from the Razorbacks.

After committing to Arkansas on Feb. 7, Curne announced his decision on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Curne, who ranked as the No. 206 player in the country according to Rivals in the class of 2025, holds offers from Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri and others in addition to the Razorbacks.

The Marion native committed to Arkansas after taking a visit to Fayetteville on Jan. 20. He saw Ole Miss a week later on Jan. 27.

With the loss of Curne, Arkansas now sits with four commitments in the class of 2025.

Marion (Ark.) four-star interior offensive lineman Carius Curne has decommitted from Arkansas, he announced on Monday. He was pledged to the in-state Razorbacks since Feb. 7.

“I have decided to de-commit from the University of Arkansas,” Curne wrote in his announcement. “I have the utmost respect for the coaching staff and appreciate their hard work during my recruitment. I hope that everyone will respect my decision as I attempt to do what is best for me and my family.”

Curne is the No. 138 overall prospect and No. 7 IOL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Arkansas.

On3 ranks Curne higher than other recruiting services. He checks in at No. 85 overall and No. 5 at his position in the 2025 On300.

Curne took a visit to Ole Miss at the beginning of February just before he pledged to Arkansas. Over the weekend, he was in Baton Rouge visiting LSU — which currently possesses the No. 2 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Razorbacks lose a key 2025 pledge
With Arkansas losing a commitment from the No. 1 player in its state, the Hogs are now down to just four commitments in their 2025 class — which ranks No. 33 in the nation and No. 12 in the SEC.

Saint Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter College Prep four-star running back Jamarion Parker is now the top commit in Sam Pittman’s class. He is just outside the top 300 of the On3 Industry Ranking and is a top-25 tailback and top-five recruit in Missouri.

“It started with visits to Arkansas two times during my freshman year,” Parker told On3 upon his commitment. “Now I have been there five times. It is always great there, I feel comfortable, and I love it there. It is not too far from home and it is fun going back and forth. Just being on campus feels right. The coaches make me comfortable and the atmosphere is a lot like mine at home.”

Parker is one of two RB commits for Arkansas, as he’s joined by Atlanta (Texas) three-star back Markeylin Batton. He pledged to the Hogs in January and rounds out the class alongside North Little Rock (Ark.) Central Arkansas Christian three-star quarterback Grayson Wilson and Bay Saint Louis (Miss.) St. Stanislaus kicker Evan Noel.

Arkansas lost a second four-star commitment on Monday when St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter running back Jamarion Parker officially reopened his recruitment. The Razorbacks lost a big one earlier in the day when four-star two-way lineman Carius Curne de-committed from the Hogs.

Parker, 6-0, 185, initially chose the Razorbacks on September 1, 2023 but is now off the commitment list following the departure of running backs Jimmy Smith, who left Arkansas for TCU in early March.

Parker’s de-commitment likely comes as no surprise to Hog fans as the Class of 2025 target began visiting other programs late last year and was recruited to Fayetteville by Smith, who now serves as running backs coach for the Horned Frogs.

In addition to Arkansas, Parker’s offer list also includes Missouri, Nebraska, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Colorado, Illinois and several others.

According to 247Sports, Parker is a four-star prospect, 18th among all running backs, and third overall in the Show Me State for the 2025 cycle. The 247Sports Composite rankings also consider Parker a four-star, No. 28 among all running backs, and fourth overall in the state of Missouri.

With the loss of Parker, Arkansas’ class is down to four verbal commitments including three-star quarterback Grayson Wilson of Maumelle (Ark.) CAC, three-star running back Markeylin Batton of Atlanta (Texas), and unranked kicker Evan Noel of Bay Saint Louis (Miss.) St. Stanislaus.

quote:

St. Louis Cardinal Ritter College Prep four-star running back Jamarion Parker announced his commitment to Arkansas on Sept. 1. A key reason why he chose the Razorbacks was because of associate head coach/running backs coach Jimmy Smith.

Following Arkansas’ 2023 season, Smith departed Fayetteville for TCU to become the Horned Frogs’ running backs coach. This move played a pivotal role in Parker deciding to back off his pledge to Arkansas.

“I started thinking about this when coach Jimmy Smith left for TCU,” Parker told On3. “… With coach Smith leaving, I feel like it is time to open up my recruitment.”

Big 12 and Big Ten schools are now in pursuit of Parker
The Razorbacks are still showing “a lot of interest” in Parker, who is being pursued by multiple schools following his decommitment. They include Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska and TCU.

The 6-foot-0, 185-pound tailback has already set visits to the Cornhuskers and Horned Frogs for later in the spring. His trip to Fort Worth will likely offer a chance to reunite with Smith in person.

“He is a real coach and he’s been on me hard since freshman year,” Parker told On3 in September about Smith. “He always lets me know how much they want me and we have built a connection. I have great talks with him and we have a great connection now. He is real and I like him a lot.”

Parker was one of the top players in Arkansas’ 2025 class
Parker is the No. 334 overall prospect and No. 24 running back in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Missouri.

At the time of his decommitment, he was the highest-ranked player in Arkansas’ 2025 recruiting class. Three players remain committed to head coach Sam Pittman and his staff: North Little Rock (Ark.) Central Arkansas Christian three-star quarterback Grayson Wilson, Atlanta (Texas) three-star running back Markeylin Batton and Bay Saint Louis (Miss.) St. Stanislaus kicker Evan Noel.

The Razorbacks also lost a pledge from Marion (Ark.) four-star interior offensive lineman Carius Curne on March 25. He is the No. 85 overall prospect and No. 5 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 On300, as well as the No. 1 player in Arkansas.

Curne took an unofficial visit to LSU on March 23, which was while he was still committed to Arkansas. The Tigers are now trending to land him at 96.5%, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
“I have decided to de-commit from the University of Arkansas,” Curne wrote in a message posted to social media. “I have the utmost respect for the coaching staff and appreciate their hard work during my recruitment. I hope that everyone will respect my decision as I attempt to do what is best for me and my family.”

The Arkansas football team lost another commitment in the class of 2025 on Monday as four-star running back Jamarion Parker backed off his pledge, according to multiple reports.

Parker was rumored to be on the fence about his recruitment since the departure of former Arkansas running backs coach Jimmy Smith to TCU.

Parker committed to Arkansas on Sept. 1, 2023 over offers from Nebraska, Ole Miss, Penn State, Oregon and others.

At the time he committed, Parker was ranked the No. 2 player in the state of Missouri and the No. 236 player in the country according to Rivals. He has since dropped out of the Rivals250 and is ranked the No. 5 player in Missouri.

The St. Louis native is the second recruit to back off their pledge to the Razorbacks on Monday, as Parker joins four-star lineman Carius Curne of Marion.

With Parker's decision, the Hogs are now at just three commitments in the class of 2025: Four-star quarterback Grayson Wilson, three-star athlete Markeylin Batton and two-star kicker Evan Noel.
