He wins more SEC games than he loses?

Gus isn't fooling anyone outside of Springdale as to what he really is...

Heard he and Freezus were sword crossers

I moved to Arkansas 2.5 years ago, I am not privy to the inner things about Gus. All I know is wherever he goes, he wins. That's a good thing, right?

He averages 8 wins a season with top 5 classes.

You weren't here during the Nutt drama (which Gus had a huge hand in causing), Gus is just like Nutt as a person, Gus brings the same behind the scenes drama.

I have heard some about that. I still think he's a winner. I'm not saying he's the answer to our ills. In fact, I being the newbie around here, defer to most of you posters.

He should have Auburn being undefeated at this point this year considering the majority of their contributors are Seniors, the rest juniors, only a handful of Sophomores or Freshmen contribute.
Yet he blows a huge lead to an LSU team that is mediocre at best this year.
The meat between the bread of his first season and this season at Auburn have been 7-8 win seasons.
So he is like Houston Nutt in that every 4-5 years he will have a season above the norm, the norm being 7-8 wins depending on the bowl game.
Houston had a reputation of doing more with less, even if that was less than true as Arkansas can accumulate and develop the talent to compete for the SEC championship over a 4-5 year period pretty consistently. So if all of Gus's recruiting classes have been ranked in the top 5 at Auburn, wouldn't you have to say he does less with more?
He and Houston do share the inability to develop a QB. Gus's best QBs have all been JUCO transfers, Marshall actually regressed his second year under Gus, something all of Nutt's QBs tended to do, regress each year they played under him...
So, if you take the fact that most HCs are only going to be able to recruit in the 20-30 range at Arkansas, how far does the 7-8 wins a year drop off with talent 15-20 spots lower nationally, 7-9 spots lower in the SEC? Do they fall to 4? 5? 6? The schedule isn't going to get easier for him, the next HC at Auburn will again be bringing in top 10 classes. So you swap Arkansas from his schedule for Auburn and you also swap UGA for Mizzou.
Sumlin will be gone from Aggy, so instead of swapping wins each year, does it become a win every year? It will have to be to maintain his level of "success" he's had at Auburn. Is he able to beat Mullen at Ms. State every year? He would have too to maintain that level...

Ok so now you're just being intentionally obtuse or you have the reading comprehension of a 1st grader, not sure which is more likely at this point. Allow me to simplify -
Arkansas' athletic department will not hire Gus away from Auburn, at least as long as Long is the AD.
It has NOTHING to do wit my personal opinion.
It has NOTHING to do with Gus being "too good for us," or us too good for him or Auburn being a better program.
It has NOTHING to do with his ties to AR or the program, his desire to "come home" and coach, or anything else.
It has EVERYTHING to do with the UofA athletic department (especially with Long at the helm), as well as most of the other ADs in this league, NOT PURSUING AN ACTIVE HEAD COACH FROM A FELLOW SEC SCHOOL. This has been repeated ad-nauseum long before Gus was even on the hotseat and managed to pull himself off and has been a gentleman's agreement throughout the SEC for years and years.
He could technically still resign from AU and come banging down our door, but it would be on his own volition seeing as Long is the most integrity-est MFer around and the last one to break said gentleman's agreement.

Nice job...
but the reason I was asking about was simply this. GM wants too much control and has butted heads with his AD consistently, Long wants nothing to do with GM AND HIS band of merry men from the Floyd church.

Correct.

Long won't be our AD much longer.
