Hurts is bad at qb, but he's FAR from the worst that we've had in recent years.

He's actually THE worst qb we've had in recent years.

Did you forget the 2 guys he beat for the starting job?

I guess you did. Some of you idiots act like he's terrible.

He's not, I don't believe he's as good as Tua, but I haven't seen Jones against the 1's so I don't know much about his ability under pressure.

So what happeneds when Jalen takes the first snap vs Louisville.

I wish that he would go ahead and transfer. I think it would be best for him. He has been a great representative for Alabama.

The advantage to transferring now is you get a year to learn the playbook(RS) and still have 2 years to play vs waiting out this year to earn playing time and transfer in December as a grad transfer and play immediately with one year left but possibly have another ring.

A roll out and toss out of bounds.

All things equal, I'd take Brodie's passing over Hurts' any day of the week.

Not in a million years. He only hit short passes, but threw it so hard that the receivers often couldn't catch them. He couldn't throw a deep ball to save his life. He overthrew EVERYTHING. Best arm strength Bama's ever had, as well as one of the least accurate, and combined with the least mobile feet. The only less accurate regular starters in the last 35 years are probably Vince Sutton, Tyler Watts, and Freddie Kitchens.

The Chiefs drafted him solely on arm strength and he was abysmal.

He is better than Greg. Yeah, that's about it. Watching Hurts suck it up on the field was tolerable in 16 because the other three guys were worse than he is but la s t year was tough knowing what was sitting on the bench. Glad it is over.

and Barnett, and JPW, and Spencer, and Brodie, and Guillon, and Tyler, and Phillips, and Avalos and Freddie, and Zow, and Barker, and Burgdorf, and Woodson.

He's not better than AJ, Blake, Jake?. That's pretty much it for starters over the last 25 or so years. (Personally, I think Greg was better too, btw)

He said in recent years which would eliminate all of those names except for Barnett and JPW. 25 years is not recent considering none of the scholorship players on the team were even born yet.

No, I said that, and I defined it.

What does a player's birthday have to do with it? Pretty much every poster on this board is over 30, and a shitload are over 40.

ETA - and if you're going to try to redefine "recent" as only in current player lifetimes, that leaves you with Barnett, Wilson, McElroy, Guillon, Croyle, Pennington, Avalos, Watts, Zow, and Phillips (plus Hurts, Sims, Coker, McCarron). The average age of a UA player is over 20.

Last decade

JPW
McElroy
AJ
Sims
Coker
Barnett/Hurts
Hurts/Tua

Hurts is better than Barnett and that's it.

JPW lost 5 games by giving more points to the opponent than their margin of victory (through pick sixes, and turnovers deep in his own territory). If you think he's better than anyone at all on your list, you're dead wrong.

Because 25 years ago is by no means recent. Saban hadn’t got a HC gig yet. Alabama, the SEC, CFB, football in general (styles of offenses), and entire world were quite different 25 years ago then now. 10 years is a much better parameter. And Hurts still ranks low on that list.

Imagine Jalen handing off to Terry Grant, passing to Mike McCoy, and scrambling behind Justin Britt and Chris Capps. And when he goes 3 and out, he has to trust a defense led by Prince Hall, Lionel Mitchell, Bobby Greenwood, and a host of others who couldn’t sniff free agent contracts.

You mean handing off to Kenneth Darby, UA's #4 all time leading rusher. And passing to DJ Hall, UA's #3 all time leading receiver and Keith Brown #9 all time? Because that's who he played with.

You mean Demeco Ryans, Roman Harper, Wallace Gilberry, and Juwan Simpson?

Are you sure you watch Alabama football?

So a 7th rounder and 2 undrafted is what brodie had for talent. I suppose oj howard, ridley, ardarius, harris, and scarborough are several rounds better than the best player listed.

He also had Glen Coffee.

Are we shifting parameters now? College stats vs. pro? Because Brodie proved to be abysmal at both. He couldn't do it with some of Bama's best, and he couldn't do it with All Pro guys like Tony Gonzalez (will be in the HOF), Dwayne Bowe, Larry Johnson, and Jamaal Charles. He was just a bad quarterback.

I'm absolutely amazed at the lengths some of our fans will go to defend his playing ability.

With the talent we have all over the field, we need a distributor. Jalen is easily the worst ball distributor we've had in the past 10-20 years. Sure he's a great playmaker with his feet, but in terms of the passing game, I'd take Brodie or JPW in a heartbeat - and I hated watching JPW

With Brodie we beat the shite out of Clemson in 16. We actually have a fan saying Hurts is better. It is time to see my way out of this one. I am surrounded by fools. Reminds me of early fall last year. Have fun guys.
