There will be no faux QB competition played out in the media. Everyone knows what is going to happen. We avoid dealing with that nonsense all off-season and preseason.

Get Tua healthy, be honest with Jalen, get ready to whoop arse.

The scary part to me is that by all accounts from people behind the scenes, Tua should have won the job around this time LAST year. Saban still won’t name him the starter, and that scares me. He’s got some kind of deep love for Hurts, and I hate that, because he is an awful awful quarterback

Remember when three qbs transferred in one season. Maybe he wants to have more than one backup on the roster.

As much as I want Jalen to stay, part of me wants him to transfer so he doesn’t have to suffer through the inevitable awkwardness of being shown on the sidelines 10+ times a game.

Agree - especially with an acceptable backup in Mac.

If he wants to play QB I have reached the point where, for the good of everyone, I hope he transfers.

It was ugly to watch but I agree. In my mind after that NCG there was never a competition.

Now there can be no trouble started by the media.

I don't believe Mac is an acceptable backup. We need the Taulia and Paul in next season badly lol.

Tua technically should have still been in HS this time last year. I get why he didn't have the job entering fall. And I think most people agree it took way too long for him to get on the field for meaningful playing time. However, I can't imagine a scenario (barring injury) where he isn't the QB against Louisville.

Saban likes QBs that don't turn the ball over.

He lost 2 games in 2 years. It's easy to see why any coach would love a QB who does that.

Or maybe he didn't want to put Tua in the same situation that Jalen was in as a Freshman. Give him time to develope and adjust to CFB.

I wish that he would go ahead and transfer. I think it would be best for him. He has been a great representative for Alabama.

I would be willing to bet you that we would win 10 games if he was the starter this year. We almost went to the NCG with Blake Sims, and he played every freaking position under the sun before being named QB his senior year. Saban, and the team concept, will win games. Mac looked pretty decent yesterday, for a glorified, very controlled practice.

He isn't ready, I ll be glad when Tyson and Lia get here. Hope Jalen will stay so he can graduate in December , he deserves to leave on a high note if he chooses to leave.

Huh? Mac looked good yesterday. He ran the offense a lot more effectively than Jalen. God forbid Tua gets hurt, but we have a solid #2. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me to see Jalen dropped to #3.

In all fairness to blake, he was a much better qb than jalen. 700 more passing yards in 1 fewer game than jalen freshman year. 1400 yards more than last season. More passing tds for sims and a higher passing rating too.

Edit: 3rd down conversion under sims 51.25%, jalen was 43.75 freshman season and 40.45% last year. Offense crippler.

This is so dumb.

Regarding this past season, you don't bench the SEC Offensive player of the year QB for a true freshman QB, no matter how much of a practice all-star he is. You go with the proven winner, with actual live game experience. You also give that freshman as much game experience as possible during the season so he's ready if needed, which Saban did.

You also have an opportunity to have two QB's on your team this season that can win games in the SEC, a luxury that most coaches would kill for. Not naming Tua the starter right now is absolutely the smartest move for this season, especially if (God forbid) we're stuck by the injury bug again this year.

What you call Saban's "love for Jalen" is actually coach being a smart leader of his team. I'm on team Tua all the way, but having both guys around this season would be for the best.

It’s hard to turn the ball over when you’re scared to throw it so you run every play. For the good defenses we will play at the end of the season, Jalen is simple to stop, and that’s been proven.

He would have lost a 3rd if Tua wouldn’t have came in and saved his arse in the Natty

Im going to go ahead and also credit all the 5-Stars surrounding Jalen at every position for that great record, and not just Hurts.

The 13 games in a row of Non-Offensive TDs really benefited Hurts too.

Yeah and Jalen looked great in his first spring game going against the #2's as well.

He is going against significantly less competition, specifically at the secondary.

Too much knee jerk over his performance.
