Jalen has lead this team to two national championships and is 26-2 as a starter.

Everyone keeps throwing out this stay as if it's all-worldly, but it isn't even as good as Jake Coker, who was undefeated as a starter and, unlike Hurts, actually won a national championship game that he played from start to finish.

I was just saying the dude was SEC POTY as a Freshman, helped led the team to two national championships.

Except that he didn't. He led us to two NCG APPEARANCES...not national championships...one of which we lost, and the other we would have lost had he not been pulled.

This part is absolutely stupid. He's not as good as Tua, but he's sure as hell not below average.

He’s well below average who has taken advantage of a great supporting cast.

Snap the ball, look around for 2 seconds, freak out, then run right

^^ not very hard for good D’s to stop

I don't think he could run an RPO offense any better just because he has wheels. He would still have the tendency to roll/look right and go off a first read or panic run. His issue isn't the offense, it's his own tendencies.

I was obviously referring to leading us to two NCGs.

IMO, Lane Kiffin's offense suited him to a t. The quick screens and first reads + taking off.

Yea, Lane called the audibles and everything. WR bubble screens and jet sweeps did a lot to boost up his numbers.

So. Many. Bubble. Screens. I am personally glad we got away from that shite. It had it's purpose but annoying to watch for me.

What I get tired of is " he took advantage of a great supporting cast"..So sick of that bs, like he should apologize for having talent around him. Other than fat Freddie kitchens I don't think I've ever seen a Bama QB have to put up with more shite than Jalen. Like someone has posted before it gets tiring hearing the same bashing day in day out. I can imagine if Tua struggles at some point we ll hear " dadgum Saban put in bahr's grand it".

If he does transfer, I wonder how many games into the season before we wish he was back...

I don't like the argument that "X player succeeded because of Y players" because I feel it's too loosely used.

That being said, Jalen did get bailed out by a few situations. The 2016 defense held some of his flaws in check because we rarely played behind. We didn't ask him to air it out as often and had good field position. That flaw was heavily on show in the Auburn game, albeit he regressed heavily this season from 2016. In 2017 it was almost like watching Blake Sims again as he threw 75% of his passes to Ridley. It was his go-to safety blanket.

I'm just very confused as to how he regressed so heavily. This was a kid who sold me on his first two drives against USC because he threw it out of bounds with no one open while Blake Barnett was hail marying the thing under pressure. He showed some semblance of making reads and progressions with Kiffin. Then comes Daboll and it's like he never had the ability to begin with.

Daboll has rings from the NFL. Why is he getting grief. He worked with what he had. and What he had was a one year starter that was surrounded by a great D. Sometimes one can not make sweet lemonade if you have sour lemons.

Saban likes QBs that don't turn the ball over. He lost 2 games in 2 years. It's easy to see why any coach would love a QB who does that.

He would have lost a 3rd if Tua wouldn’t have came in and saved his arse in the Natty

I'm confused as to why you're replying to me with a quote that wasn't in my post? Poster llfshoals said what you quoted in your post, not me. Weird.

I guarantee at some point we ll wish he was back if he leaves before end of this season. The hate he gets though may not be worth staying around for much longer, and that's a sad commentary in itself

I dunno...while I see your point, if we go into the fall with only two scholarship QBs, Tua and Mac, we're gonna be in a world of hurt if either one gets injured...

After what I saw Saturday...on top of his entire body of work...the only time I want to see him on the field at QB when the game is on the line is if both Tua and Mac go down.

Tua is the starting QB, period. People act like he only played in the natty game. The dude was throwing darts in every game he played. He payed a ton against Vandy, UT and others. The natty game was just more of what we had already seen from him. Sure, he'll throw a few picks, but that's a small price to pay when he takes our entire offense to another level.

I like Jalen, and hope he sticks around. He has one more semester to get his degree, and then he can grad transfer anywhere he wants and play immediately. If he leaves this summer, he's gonna have to sit out this year anyway at his new school.

Mac Jones showed real promise. I think he can be a legit back-up for us this year if Jalen leaves. I think we're in good shape at QB either way.
