Not sure how you get blaming players out of my post but my point is there has been talk on these boards about mock drafts and where a couple of our kids are projected and I just don’t see it TBH. Do we have a problem “coaching em up”? Sure as hell do. I think Avery is too used of the NBA where they play every other night and players are for the most part a finished product . That won’t work in college. My first line said “not hating on players” and I mean that . It is not their fault. But you got to admit that for several years( not just CAJ) we have recruited athletes who are inconsistent with b-ball skills. It is ok if you have a few who have high basketball IQs to mix in but we don’t . Long story short , I don’t see players ready for the league and CAJ dragging them down. You are right about development, just not getting better and that’s purely coaching

Nothing will ever change until we build a new arena. Even Auburn was willing to do this.

But, Jones will be in the nba next year. We need to start looking for a replacement for him now.

Herb needed to obsessively work on his shot all offseason if he wanted to be able to go pro after this year. From the looks of it, he spent the entire offseason playing Fortnite.

I wasn't implying that you were bashing the players. But, I seem to remember most of your posts talking about how we have athletes and not basketball players.
My point is, even if that were true when we recruited them, and in most cases I don't think it was, with experience, they should become better basketball players, not worse. The coaching sucks arse.

Would love to know how Wimp would compare Jones to TR Dunn. TR was a demon on Defense and played 14 yrs in the league.

Not many on here give a frick about b-ball but I do for sure. No excuse we can’t be competitive in sports other than football . Baseball seems to be trending in the right direction but I am tired of missing the tourney. Being a teacher/ coach I am off for spring break when March madness begins and aside from last year it is frustrating as hell to not have Bama in it more

TR didnt score much from outside until his senior year, but he consistently scored close to double digits by getting garbage points around the basket.

Very true.I watched him play many games for us and also followed his career in the pro's.

Jones played 29 minutes and made zero FG's and was 1 of 6 from the FT line, which was his only points of the game. And he is a starter. He did get 5 rb's with no TO's. Does this type stat deserve to be a starter?
Agreed. Though he didn't this game he is normally a turnover machine. We had 15 minutes of scoring droughts and we Mack on the bench for most of it. Who is deciding playing time.
Heck, if you can not score, put Lawson in there to fire away. We didn't play D anyway.

Yep. No excuse for last night, and it's the same problem year after year. He has no idea how to coach the team out of in-gane shooting slumps. At least Grant would up the defensive pressure when our offense was sucking.

I've thought he was a horrible hire since day one. He's recruited well be done nothing with that. He's got to go. He's fricking awful. He's stealing money from the University.

I'm not in the camp that he is a terrible coach. I think he's a good coach, but I think we could and should expect better.

Yea with our schedule so far we should be riding high coming in to the Zona game and yet here we are.
