Im not comparing the losses/teams so much as the pathetic, defeatist, sore loser mentality from Bama fans where we say the same whiny shite all the time.

I just find it sad that, as a fanbase, we fear losing more than enjoy winning. It’s fine for Saban to think that way, but as a fan base I find it kinda pathetic.
I keep trying to tell em

Are you seriously comparing 2018 Clemson and 2019 LSU to this A&M team? Wow.

Can you really not see the pattern with the defense? This is year 3 under this guy with a loaded and experienced roster. They were being hyped up like crazy all off season. They were supposed to be IT. Instead, we've gotten the same circus we've been getting the past 3 years with now a loaded and experienced roster. Eventually, you have to admit this experiment is a failure.

The offense I'm willing to give a pass on since everything is mostly new.

Im not defending the defense at all. Golding could be let go this afternoon and Id be happy and it might be a net positive for the remainder of the season. But despite our lack luster defense the last few years, Saban has still found a way to win a title and be in the mix every season. So let’s not freak out and act like the program is falling apart.

I'm with you, team will hopefully channel some 2015 energy and turn up the intensity after getting a dose of reality and a taking a loss.

We have not looked good at all on the road though.

It's because the offense has been so explosive and was scoring like 50 points a game. Saban was willing to change and unleash all his weapons on offense and brought in some amazing OC's to get the job done.

I don't understand why he doesn't try and do this for the defense. There is way too much talent on this team to be this bad.

Meh....I'm not unduly concerned. We have a good team and talent all over the field.

Hats off to Aggie. They are better than advertised and played their SuperBowl. Crowd was definitely a factor....106K on their feat and LOUD

Couple of 3rd down stops, or kick it in the end zone and don't give up that ridiculous play on special teams, or BoB's three straight pass plays on 1st and goal, we win

But this was a total team loss. Play calling was bad and execution was worse. Bryce had a bad game, the receivers made bad drops, Robinson is a great downhill punishing back but he really isn't a bell cow RB we need. This defense.....I don't what to say about that other than Saban needs to completely reevaluate it and Golding....and where was Anderson last night? A stupid special teams bust, couple of questionable PI calls....and the play calling on that last possession.....WTF?

Despite all that Bama still nearly pulled it out.....

JMO but you might wish to reconsider that LOADED part.

There is a big difference between rankings and actual performance.

average=1 good=2 great=3

48=2 94=1 47=1 92=1 31=3 15=unknown at this time
10=1 8=1 28=2 5=1 14=1 13=1 2=1 9=2

how in the hell can this defense be great with a bunch of average players?

Pete might not be it but Sal and Charles Kelly have been around the block along with Nick.

It was very ugly and an all around failure by pretty much everyone in the organization. That in and of itself is pretty concerning, especially after a very similar effort in Gainesville.

Fortunately we have our goals in front of us and a chance to turn the page Saturday night in a revved up Starkville.

We'll see how they respond.

At 71 I don't recall many games where just about everybody on both sides of the ball just shite the bed at least once in the game.

The team/coaches weren't ready to play last night for whatever reasons

It was pretty shocking how completely out of sync, unprepared and just flat out bad everything looked for the first 30 minutes.

Usually when Bama loses most of these things happen

1) Playing in a bowl game that is meaningless and the guys don't give a shite.

2: A QB becomes a heisman winner based off his ungodly performance against Bama.

3: A team brings a totally
unique offense that is almost unstoppable.

4: The winning team is in the top 12.

Last nights game did not include any of these factors.

Alabama got beat by a shitty unranked team. With an average QB. A basic offense. No fluke plays. And Nick did not seem that upset. WTF is up with that?

Lots of good points here.

On defense, this was supposed to be the year. All reports indicated that this defense was supposed to be historic. Experience, leadership, health, depth, high-star recruits everywhere. And well-tuned to match any type of offense. The organization had finally overcome the slump in recruiting a couple years ago.

I know it sounds negative around here lately, but Nick ends up blaming the players. He says they don’t have any defensive play calls where people should be open. Okay cool, if it happens for 3 years then it’s time to evaluate the cause.

You're right, he has consistently blamed the players this season. Last night was the first time I can remember him this season even suggesting coaching needs to get better. I could be wrong, but I don't remember him blaming players under Kirby and Pruitt.

We shot ourselves in the foot and played really bad in a deafening stadium against a team desperate for a win, and we still could've (should've) won.

The team fought hard but too many mistakes were made. I actually am stomaching this loss pretty well.

Not really seeing how this loss stands out compared to the others.

Obviously how the team responds will be the important thing. Usually Saban's teams respond very well, so I don't have many reasons to think that this team won't. I expect us to win the rest of the games on our schedule. Pretty confident that we will.

Offense is young and inexperienced, growing pains were expected. 38 points should win you a road game against a 3-2 team. All I know is Pete Golding has been a disaster. This defense has talent and experience and they look LOST. Can’t believe Saban kept him another year and now we are paying for it. One of the bigger mistakes in Saban’s career IMO.

Listen, you can coach the defense until you’re blue in the face but if it’s too complicated for them to know every little nuance for every formation and shift it won’t matter.

What was the difference between last week when we virtually shut down a much more sophisticated and attacking offense and this week when we couldn’t stop a pretty basic pro style one? The ONLY difference is last week we lined up in a defensive set and didn’t waiver or try to change it based on what Ole Miss did pre-snap. We just rolled with the call and played defense. This week we went back to 15 different pre-snap reads and adjustments and kids were lost again.

It’s Saban’s defense, we all know that. He was smart enough to realize old school smash mouth pro style wouldn’t be optimal offense a few years ago and evolved. Why is he not realizing that we have defensive assignment busts on nearly every play now because his defense has grown too complicated and outdated? It’s not the kids, it’s the system they are being asked to play. Combine that with a DC that is about as effective as a monkey attempting algebra and these are the results. We can’t stop the run consistently, can’t pressure the QB and can’t defend the pass consistently without grabbing, interfering, or having someone running free. It’s time to change it up.

This was different... It was a complete shite show by both coordinators. That isn't normal around here.

I seem to remember this same line of thinking in 2015 after the loss to Ole Miss. Both coordinators really shite the bed that night. So badly, in fact, that the national news media were actually on air declaring our dynasty to be over. The only difference? On paper, 2021 Texas A&M is more talented than 2015 Ole Miss was.

This is 100% fake news. Texas A&M was unranked and had been playing shitty, but it ignores the obvious elephant in the room - they had the talent to beat us. Texas A&M has finished in the Top 10 in recruiting each of the last three years. This wasn't UL-Monroe or Louisiana Tech we lost to on Saturday night. People need to stop looking at the rankings and actually look at their roster.

When you factor in how talented they are, how hungry they were, and the fact that we quite obviously underestimated them, it's no wonder why what happened on Saturday night happened.

Not sure why you're sugar coating the loss to aTm so much.
No, they are not an awful team, but being down a starting QB, having scored a combined 42 points in their "decent" games of State, Arkansas, and Colorado, Alabama giving up 41 is atrocious.
Further, our offense played sloppy at best to a good, not great, defense.
Auburn, Georgia, and possibly LSU have better defenses.
