Good thing USA Today won't be picking the OC.

Based on Saban's track records of OCs since Kiffin... NFL: Matt Rhule.

Promoted within staff: Derek Dooley. He's currently analyst for Alabama. He has experience with QB/ OC. Second one is AJ Milwee.

If Saban has a history, He'll promote Dooley or get AJ milwee.

If a real good OC get fired from NFL, Saban will check out. offense won't change under Saban, but it can be tailored. He's gonna need a real good QB coach who can develop QBs.

Riley would be intriguing. Hard pass on the other 4.

5 Jason Garrett (hard pass)
4 Dan Mullen (hard pass) He's good at scheming, but he's not good at developing QB
3 Robert Gillespie (That's interesting....)
2 Freddie Kitchens (I don't know... He can't develop QB)
1 Garrett Riley (Maaaayyybee)

no Dooley? NO Milwee? Wiggins?

Andy Kotelnicki.

He's been the best rhythm playcaller in the country so far, reminds me a lot ofAndy Reid creatively.

Only downside is it deviates from the system in place, as he's more of a wide zone pistol guy with a lot more RPOs.

Anyone with a creative mind and can adjust on the fly. Can we bring Kiffin back to be a coach in waiting?

Probably well passed the point in his life where his ego would survive the inevitable Saban arse chewing.

If the Jets stink it up again this year AND, of course, BoB leaves, I wonder if Saban would be interested in trying to entice Mike LaFleur. Young talent and a Shanahan line guy.

Man that would be crazy to see aj milwee get a big time job like Alabama's OC. I know Aj personally. We are from the same town. I love Aj to death. Great dude. Also side note. He can hit a golf ball further than I can tell you about. Dude is one of those people who are just naturally good at whatever the hell he wants to be good at.

I agree with someone from the Shanahan tree. Maybe look at someone on the Dolphins staff.

Also, Joe Brady would be pretty nice. Idk if he was the one calling plays for LSU. I just remember their 2019 offense looking like a work of art

Kendal Briles

I think Briles runs the type of Kiffin-esque offense that Saban probably wants, but he has no feel for games or rhythm to his playcalling.

I also think he’d drive Saban absolutely crazy with his cutesy bullshite and his calls inside the red zone.

Couldn’t imagine Saban allowing that slow mesh offense in Tuscaloosa.

No NFL coaches. Most seem to be to mechanical in play calling and not adjust quickly to the talent they have and flowing well on in-game play.

A lot of the play calling is on the quarterback. At least it has been with BY and Mac. They are/were given a lot of freedom to change plays at the line of scrimmage. And if he makes a change then 10 other guys have to make a change. The receivers also have some responsibility when the read a zone and sometimes go to a soft spot in the defense. I dont think they want the offense overly complicated because they read and react on the fly. Another thing, we have not run anything close to a trick play since the interception near the goal line verses Auburn a few years ago when we had a jumbo package in the game. We did a lot more trickeration when Kiffen was here with reverses and speed sweeps, etc, but it obviously isnt allowed now by Saban.

I was not a big kiffen fan even though I know he got good results.

A couple of average kiffen series:

-2 yards
+4 yards
-6 yards
Punt

+8 yards
-3 yards
80 yard TD
