Who do you think (on paper) has the best shot at winning the SEC title this Fall?

I think LSU is going to be really, really tough this year. Love him or hate him, Kiffin is one of the best offensive minds in the game and Sam Leavitt (assuming he's healthy) is a name to remember. Dude can play.

UGA will be tough as always. Always stout on defense, I'm just not sold on Mike Bobo as an elite offensive mind and Gunner Stockton has been decent is not elite.

Bama? We have a decent chance to win it all. To me, it all depends on:

1. Offensive line play-absolutely must improve and be more physical. Their improvement will tell the tale just how far this team will go. They don't have to be elite, just consistently decent.

2. Ryan Grubb no longer trying gadget plays when it's 3rd or 4th and one and we desperately need a first down or TD. No more of that crap. Must CONSISTENTLY pick up that one yard.

3. QB play-Can they find a starter pretty quickly and can that guy grow up quickly? I think ultimately it's Russell and while he has all the inrangibles (big arm, can run/extend plays), can he get in a groove and move this offense? I think he can.

If Bama can do those three things, I like our chances.

Have you seen UGA’s schedule? I thought their cakewalk days were over once we got rid of divisions. But no, they are still playing as easy as schedule as possible without leaving the conference. I also think Texas is going to be really good unfortunately but they have a really tough schedule.

I don’t really get the LSU hype. They disappointed last year and they basically have a brand new team. I guess they could all gel but they could also flame out. We’ve seen this exact situation at Florida St

I dont think you can easily predict these things like you could pre-NIL/transfer portal because the churn is too high.

People forget after week one last year LSU was gonna walk to a championship and Bama was dead and buried. It takes time to figure out who is who.

There is a tier of teams that will compete and it looks like this IMO:
-UGA
-Texas
-A&M
-Bama
-LSU
-OU
-Ole Miss

Of those teams this is how many each team has to play against each other:
Bama: 3 (1 away) + @TN
UGA: 3 (2 away)
OM: 4 (2 away)
Texas: 4 (2 away) + Ohio State
A&M: 3 (2 away)
LSU: 4 (2 away)

All of those games are swing games and no outcome amongst that group would shock me either way.

I think there’s a big difference between LSU last year and this year. Lane is a much better HC and Sam Leavitt is a massive upgrade at QB than Garrett Nussmeier. Is that some sort of “guarantee”? No, but I think they have a really good chance at winning the SEC.

Nuss: 64% / 4k yards / 7.7YPA / 29-12 / 142RTG
Leavitt: 62% / 2885 / 8.2YPA / 24-6 / 150RTG

Those are from their healthy years. I dont know what Leavitt is with a quality roster and healthy, but on paper hes not at all elite nor is he coming into the season healthy.

I think theres a reason why LSU tampered with the UW QB before moving on to Leavitt but if anyone can figure him out its probably LK.

The other factor for LSU is the OL. That group was to pass pro what ours was for running the ball last year so the new tackle will help, but without better blocking I struggle to view that offense as elite at least on paper.

To be clear Im not saying they'll be bad, Im just saying going into last season their offense was far more impressive on paper than this one.

Is he, though? Lane, to me, is the poster child for OCs who would rather prove how clever he is than win the game (which, to be honest, is about 75% of them). When loading up the I and slamming the ball with HB Power would do the job on 4th and 1, Lane will invariably opt for a 4-wide, jet sweep reverse option pass. When LSU "Lane's" a game against a team they should easily beat (on the road at UK or the Barn are the primary candidates), it will drive the Swamptards on tRant crazy.

I do think he's one of the more imaginative offensive minds but I'll admit he is prone to doing insane stuff at crazy times. I remember a few years ago at an OM home game, it was 1st quarter, 0-0 score. OM has the ball 4th and 20 on their own 20 yard line. Lane decides to go for it on 4th and 20!?!?!?! And didn't get it.

Who the hell does that?!?!? I know he's paid more money than I'll ever make in my lifetime and has probably forgotten more about football than I'll ever know but Jesus, that is insane.

Now that schools buy their roster every year sometimes with coaching turnover, who knows. Right now UGA is the most stable program in the SEC with Kirby. Doesn't mean they will win it
