When Saban does retire (a long time from now) Dabo is the answer

As much as I hate to say it, when Saban retires Dabo needs to come home. I have always said I didn't want Dabo to succeed Saban but the more realistically and objectively I look at it the more that I see he is the correct and obvious answer. Yeah he is a bit cringy, but has won multiple championships at friggin Clemson and turned them into a top CFB program. He played at Alabama and loves Alabama, and would do very well here.

He wouldn't win at Saban's level but he is in his early 50s and probably has 15+ good years of coaching left. I see no reason why he couldn't win multiple national championships here.

For those that say they don't want Dabo, tell me who would be better that is realistic. (Kirby isn't leaving his alma mater for here). I bet you can't name anyone that would be better.

Other than Lane I’d take him.

Too expensive. I need a Jim Leonhard that's frustrated with Wisconsin being cheap.

I like Kiffin but Dabo has proven he can win on the big stage as a head coach. I would say Dabo is a top 4 current college coach, I wouldn't rank Kiffin that high. Kiffin is borderline top 10 maybe, and that's just based on hopium that he is gonna continue to improve and eventually win something, not based on him winning big as a HC in the past, because he hasn't yet.

We could certainly do much worse than Dabo that is certain. Although imo he is losing his luster. I think he is in the same boat as Saban with portal and nil deal. Venables was his right hand man kind of like Kirby was. In a few years he might want a fresh start and Clemson may feel the same. If Saban were to retire today he would probably be in top 3. We are one bad hire away from being mediocre.

I just don't know why Dabo would leave a school where he has built what amounts to a weird religious cult, with himself as the cult leader, in a conference where he regularly has twice as much talent as everyone else. They worship him there and it'd take back to back losing seasons for his seat to even reach room temperature.

And even if he was willing to walk away from that, I have very serious reservations about his hiring practices and roster management philosophy working in a conference where you have to jump on any small advantage you can get. I question whether a BBQ buddy staff that hands out scholarships to the sons of friends and family and won't take transfers will work in a cutthroat league like the SEC.

When that time comes there will be someone names out there that are not there right now. Bama never needs to make a Harsin type hire. A guy who has no clue what SEC FB is all about and has virtually no recruiting ties

I'd rather hire Kalen Deboer over Yaba Daba Doo.

If it is a long time from now (3 years plus in my book), who the heck knows who it might be. If Dabo goes 12-12 in the ACC from 23-25, I think a lot of Alabama fans will be singing a different tune.

Unlike Bear, Dabs has been at Clempson a long time and has moved his mom there. I would be shocked if he made the move.

DeMeco Ryans, unless he's an NFL HC by then (most likely going to be the case).

Dabo is not leaving. He is the perfect fit there and until something major changes will always be in the hunt in the ACC. The pressure of being in the SEC is one thing but combine that with replacing Saban is on a whole new level and we might have a long list of who we want but I have to think it will be short in who will actually take it if they are a big name.

Dan Lanning. He’s familiar with what it takes to run the Saban/Kirby recruiting machine. I don’t want Dabo’s rah-rah, promote everybody from within high school type program coming to Alabama.

Alabama is the most prestigious job in CFB plus he played here. I can see a lot of reasons he would make the move and think he 1000% would.

I wonder if Kiffin doesn't take Auburn in hopes that he'll get the Alabama job later on.
He knows he'll never ever be offered it if he goes to Auburn.

You think Alabama would offer him?
