I’m curious…when did Saban do that? Did he take over for the Ole Miss, MSU, LSU, and Auburn games but let Golding make the calls for the Florida, A&M, Tennessee, and Arky games? If so, why didn’t Saban just fire his arse and call those games as well?

The bowl game against Michigan. Saban took over and we went to a zone defense.

I’d take Dabo in a heartbeat, and you’re crazy if you wouldn’t.

Brian Kelly doesn't move the needle in the southeast. Saban is about to take what he wants from Louisiana.

100%

Such a bizarro hire. For that kind of money? Brian Kelly? I don't get it.

Dabo would be a fool to take this job after Saban. And I don't think he's a fool.

I don't think he'd be a bad hire, but I also don't think he'd come.

What I think happened is Woodward thought he was going to get Lincoln Riley. Riley played him and Woodward had no backup. So, Trace Armstrong pitched Woodward on Brian Kelly since his other client, Lincoln Riley left Woodward high and dry. Woodward botched the hire and then had to overpay to get Brian Kelly. Of course Brian Kelly jumped at the chance to get paid $15 million a year. ND sure as hell wasn't going to pay Kelly anything near that amount.

Yep. I mean, it's clearly about the money, coupled with Lsu scrambling for a name.

Word is, Kelly actually reached out to UF about their opening some time back.

He just wanted out of ND for some reason. Looks like Lsu could have probably got him much cheaper at the end of the day.

Possibly because of their recruiting limitations.

...we won't have to pay our current one $28,500,000 to go away.

I'd have said that a little over a year ago, and I did say it. His star has lost some of its luster. I need to see him turn things back around. If he does and starts dominating the ACC and being a fixture in the CFP again, I'll be back on board. But I need to see that.

I think he is a good coach but only someone with the last name of Saban is worth that kind of money

I commented on this in another thread. He and Riley both have made it to the playoffs multiple times and been soundly defeated. They were bound to be put on the hot seat for it soon. Both just got a raise and a reset on the playoff clock by switching jobs.

I agree on both. But Kelly at LSU is like forcing a square peg into a round hole. It makes no sense especially from a recruiting stand point.

Another weird thing is the timing. Next Tuesday ND very well could be in the playoffs.

Dabo needs to show me that he values roster optimization more than his family, faith, and football shtick. At Clemson he can get away with carrying 15 scholarships worth of dead weight on his roster because the other 70 still outclass anything the rest of the ACC minus FSU is even capable of signing, much less has actually signed anytime lately. I don't like him on a personal level, but I also don't think his attitude towards transfers and recruiting would work in the SEC the way it has at Clemson.

Goes in line with the "get out before another postseason embarrassment happens" theory.

That's exactly what I was talking about. His whole we'll stop recruiting your position if you don't take any more visits or talk to other schools would never work at Bama. And refusing to make use of the transfer portal out of some absurd profession of loyalty is just stupid. Also his whiny everybody's always picking on poor lil ole clemson nonsense would never fly at Bama or anywhere else in the SEC.

Who said he'd do any of that at bama? Maybe he learned that it's what works at Clemson...

Dabo is a perfect fit at Clemson and I hope enjoys a great career there and retires as their HC.
