last year's team should have been 11-1. The regular season Vanderbilt and Oklahoma losses were choke jobs primarily by one player, and that's mostly true for the Michigan game as well

We have GOT to stop giving the defense a pass on the Vanderbilt game

They didn't play great in that game, but 7 of Vanderbilt's points came from a Milroe Pick Six.

Agreed. They were terrible that day. But Milroe did throw a pick six that ended up being the difference in the game.

We were also very lucky to have beaten South Carolina because of the terrible decision making by #4.

Vandy had 9 possessions

4 tds
2 field goals
1 60 yard drive that killed the final 3 minutes
2 punts

That’s bad fellas

Now the defense was borderline elite for the remaining 9 or so games.

And Milroe still threw a pick six that ended up being the difference in the game. Yes, the defense was atrocious. But to politely ignore the pick six is ridiculous.

That pick 6 wasn't a bad throw though. It basically hit Williams right in the hands but the Vandy defender was draped all over his back and got a hand in there, causing it to deflect up and land directly into the arms of the other Vandy defender. It could've been called a DPI-technically it was, but I have no problem with the no call there. Was pretty bang-bang.

and he also fumbled it to them which gave them a short field and more points. And when we absolutely needed points he had several pathetic 3 and outs, and he couldn't run for shite that game either. Yes the defense played bad, that was their only truly bad game the whole year, but Milroe played just as bad or worse, and he had lots of truly bad performances in other games where the defense bailed him out. The defense needed some pressure taken off them to get their feet back under them and he just crapped the bed that whole game. I'm not going to excuse him from this one just cause the defense got out-schemed as well.

If a offense scores 35 points, they should win the game unless the defense is trash.

We had only two 3 and outs in that game. 1 in the first half, and 1 in the second. We had two other possessions that game where we didn't score a touchdown-the INT and the fumble.

Alabama will make the playoffs but where we are ranked going into the playoffs will determine how far we get. We could go anywhere from 8 to 11 wins.

Perhaps, but not necessarily.

This season feels very different to me. Im optimistic but ready for anything.

We're still Bama so the expectation is to win a NC, and with it being 5 seasons since our last one, there are expectations growing, but I dont really feel it as a fan.

I'm feeling that the team has competent leadership across the board and as long as that is shown during the season, that we are still an every-year-playoffs caliber team, it'll be a success.

Well we have Ryan Grubb calling the plays and not Nick Sheridan.

Unfortunately, Ryan Grubb doesn't play QB.He just calls the plays. We have a complete unknown at QB.

Everyone conveniently ignores we switched to new schemes on offense and defense last year.

And guess what, we're learning a new offense this season as well. DeBoer said last season that approximately 90% of his offense wasn't installed last season. We were only running about 10% of his offense and the rest of the time designing the offense around Milroe's strengths. So this offseason we are installing the 90% that wasn't learned last season. So essentially, we're learning a new offense this season. There will be growing pains.

I think that Ty Simpson will be fine and a large improvement over Jalen Milroe. The key to me is will we get good offensive and defensive line play. Can we give Simpson time to throw to many talented wide outs and can we get a pass rush? I think the answer is yes to both.

For me ...

I'm going all in on sarcasm this year. We have a very emotional fan base... Many have a very low football IQ. I think the season will be much more fun if we just watch and enjoy the show versus living and dieing on every play and blaming any/all issues on one player. Issues start and end with the coaches.

For the first time in a while, I'm legitimately excited for this season. I'm eager to see DeBoer's year 2, we're finally going to watch a new QB, there are a lot of players I like on both sides of the ball, and we have some great matchups on the schedule.

I don't love the direction college football has headed (and still going), but I still look forward to seeing the Tide run onto the field.
