I mean, we'll end with probably three ranked wins even if we sputter to 9-3, and presumably one of those losses will be a top 10 Oklahoma
We're >50% chance of being in with multiple 9-3 teams in that 10-12 region. We'd probably be at the front of all 9-3 teams.

If Bama beats Oklahoma and loses to AU and then loses to whoever in the SECCG Bama may get left out. I'm not sure if the committee has said anything about that.
I wasnt talking about playoff but just SECCG. The SEC put a LOT of pressure on the CFB playoff after last season. There is no scenario in which a 10-2 SEC team goes to SECCG and gets left out because of loss. The SEC would then just take its ball leave

Ughh I reallllly REALLY hope that we just clinch it this weekend and don't have to leave it in the hands of the committee.
All in all, if we lose 2 of the last 3 games of the season, I will feel pretty ambivalent about the playoffs even if we do make it.
I feel pretty confident at this point though that this team isn't going to lay any stinkers. You could tell Simpson was pretty pissed at the offensive performance on Saturday and he's still chomping at the bit to put together a complete offensive game. And the D seems to be bringing it every game.
I just still have nightmares from how last year transpired.

Agreed! If we drop these last two SEC games I don’t want in the playoffs. I really wouldn’t mind not playing in the SEC championship but looks like if we win one we are in it, and at that point might as well win it. I could also see how a loss in it could help motivate and prepare for the playoffs too.
Just such a hard road for any SEC team to make the playoffs then the two best teams have to punch each other in the mouth right before playoffs. Just not cool

I don’t know. Too much has to happen still.
Ole Miss has the easiest path: Miss. St. & FL
Texas has the hardest path: GA and A&M
If Bama beats Oklahoma, I think they are in but a bad loss to Auburn would hurt. If that happens, they may need to get in the Championship game (yeah, I don’t care what they say about it not counting as much) and win for the automatic or lose a close one.
Will they get in the Championship game? Would need to see what happens to OM, OK, TX, & A&M down the stretch - having the head-to-head over GA helps.

Alabama will be in the championship game if they beat Oklahoma no matter what.

Screw all that math. Just win.

Correct people are confusing the SECG for the playoff. It’s simple:
Win 1 or both of Oklahoma and Auburn, playing in the SECCG locked. If we lose in the SECCG we are still in, probably the 5-7 Seed.
Playoff wise let’s do what I consider worst or worst likely case:
Lose to 1 of Oklahoma or Auburn
Lose to Texas AM or whoever we play in SECCG
IMO A 3 loss Bama with one loss being in the SECCG we still get in because we know the committee won’t penalize for that, or they didn’t last year. But our seed is probably 9-10. Ish

That would leave Alabama and A&M as undefeated in conference play.
If they lose to AU, and A&M wins out, they are tied with OM with 1 loss.
Common opponents has Bama with a win over GA. So, that gets them in?

Bama needs to beat Oklahoma, period! We lost last year and this year it's in our house. They're good, but a team with championship hopes should win a revenge game at home in November.

Essentially the only team that can drop a game and still be in the SECCG is Alabama
This is NOT acceptable! Win both and leave no doubt. That may be easier said than done but how does it help Alabama to lose to a very bad Auburn team?!

Here is a website that lets you figure out all the scenarios.

There's really no way for Ole Miss to get in over TAMU and UGA if they're all 7-1.

Realistically, being the 5-6-7 seed might actually be better than being the 4 seed. You get a home game, then face the 2-4 seed in the second round. I know you play an extra game, but the benefits of a home playoff game might outweigh that.
Obviously I want to win out, but I’m just saying there is a silver lining to dropping one of the next 2 SEC games.

Just got to accept that those gimmick plays are part of Grubb’s playcalling. Due in part to our inability to run the football
Id absolutely rather run a gimmick play than a slow read or counter to Jam right now.

I'd rather just run our 2-minute offense the entire game.

I said it in my data runthrough: there just isnt any way we piece together drives against OU 4 yards at a time.
Why not let it rip?
Its like demanding we win going station to station in baseball when we're built to hit home runs.
Just accept the strike outs, let the power hitters hit and see what happens.
Aguilar put up 400 yards in the air against this group a couple weeks ago and absent some turnovers would've had more. Im all for some power and edge stuff from Hill who is also great as an outlet against blitzes, but running for 1-2YPC isnt keeping anyone honest.

Not only that, he got the ball stripped from his arms and OU returned it 71 yards for a TD.
Aguilar played horribly against Oklahoma.
