That only matters if it’s a defenseless player.

What is the definition of a defenseless player and why was James Smith called for targeting against a running back who was advancing the football last week?

This Vandy team reminds me a bit of Auburn with Cam. A couple of good players, a little backyard football, and a QB who plays out of their mind.

When Pavia is gone though, it’s back to the cellar.

Good finish. Not a win but at least our defense is competing now. Their defense is making way too many havoc plays though. Feels like they’re gonna get us for a turnover if we don’t clean that up. We need to get after Pavia and make him try to do too much

Vandy averages 50 a game. Their run defense is top 10.

Vandy is a very well coached team. You look at the play breakdowns and its assignment football in the trenches. We’re winning outside because we have better athletes.

Not being able to stop the run is going to get us beat 4 times this year if that doesn’t change. Given how often we blow assignments I’m not optimistic

The worst executed offensive series of the year is when Bama scored, forced them to punt, then . . .

1. Gave up an awful sack
2. Ran up the middle for a 1 yard run
3. On 3rd and 19 we have short pass to Horton wide open to at least get 15-20 yards but overthrew it.
4. Horrible punt (with zero pressure) gives them the ball at the 38.

This is precisely why Formby has to go. Wasn’t he the guy who whiffed?

I think Lea is good enough to keep them at .500 or a little better … if he doesn’t go elsewhere after Pavia leaves. He’s a quality coach.

Both teams wish they could have played better in the first, but we have momentum going into the locker room along with Smith returning.

Let's get this done

He didn’t whiff, he just got overpowered on the inside.

Missed field goals, bad decision in the redzone aren’t OC issues

Grubb had a mediocre 2H against UGA and a bad 2Q against Vandy.

The offense should be power A gap runs, play action and deep action against a secondary that can’t consistently cover our WRs and Cuevas.

If they score a TD on this opening drive of the 2nd half, I’m not joking, we better onside it every kickoff from then on. 25% chance of recovery and defense has short field so they don’t get too tired and can hopefully hold to a FG once or twice.
If there’s one thing we know it’s that our kickers can execute at a high level.

Exactly.

And we have kept the time of possession. Which we couldn’t do last year.

Ty should have recognized it and adjusted.

Lea is Vandy through and through, I really believe his conviction that he wants to build them into a power. I think he’s there for a long time

That’s what the entire game plan should be: keep Pavia on the sidelines with long drives so he doesn’t get any rhythm.

If the defense gets a stop to open the half and we drag out another 7-10 min drive, that’s a good start.

And if he’s competitive and bowl eligible more often than not they will be happy.

He adjusted pre-snap. I don’t think he expected Formby to just let a man run free.
