Saban needs to hear and feel the displeasure of our entire fan base. Golding must go!

Is there an insider that can help me understand why Coach continues to keep him on staff? I know a few years ago, we were again pursuing Jimmy Lake, but he was promoted from DC to head coach at Washington. I really cannot understand why we keep an inept coach on staff. He has repeatedly proven he cannot fulfill the duties of his job. Would an insider please comment?!!??

I agree that Golding should be replaced but Nick Saban isn't going to do anything because he hears and feels displeasure of fans. I mean, he may very well do it to make us better, and of course that will please fans, but there's a difference. I'm pretty sure he wants to play well at least as much as the most ardent fan does.

Well said. I just wish we knew why Golding is still on staff. I can remember Coach Saban getting rid of Kiffin before the title game. The DC at Georgia and the other person I mentioned previously are 2 I know we have pursued unsuccessfully. I wish we would make a run at somebody, somewhere, but I know that will be in the off-season, if it happens. We have Charles Kelly on staff, a DC when at other schools. I just also notice it’s not only poor defensive calls from Golding, it’s also that the players will not play hard for him at all.

we should absolutely do that, and give Saban a few suggestions who we'd sign off on.

The point is he needs to hear it. Saban is the absolute GOAT but even he is subject to being called out for a mistake. He needs to correct it. This has gone on long enough.

He's apparently really impressive when it comes to game prep and talking Xs and Os during the week, so the only sense I can make of it is that Saban keeps waiting on that to translate to the field on Saturdays. We're past the point where it's obvious it isn't going to happen though. Our ILBs have been absolute hot garbage since he was hired after being the strength of the defense for a decade prior to his arrival. That's not just a coincidence.

all jokes aside, the day that Saban feels he has to coach according to how the fans want him to coach is probably the day he'll retire or sign on with another team.

that said, as noted above, I too hope he replaces Golding. I think it's the same thing as it's been since Golding's 2nd year; he wants to avoid constant turnover at the DC and hopes Golding will learn to do his job well.

Saban really has a lot of respect for PG. He is a master on the chalk board.. he is great at drawing up X and O’s. He just can’t seem to relate it to the player ans field. Also just like offense.. Saban has his play book and his style. He wants it ran his way with his plays. That’s why we can’t get a new good one.. most want to have control of their plays and schemes. You can call your plays, but they have to be From sabans play book. I will say it the problem on defense is Saban guys. This is his scheme and what he wants ran. We can fire Pete but unless someone has control to do their thing it won’t change. The defense over the years has grown so much and Saban added so much to it.. it’s almost impossible to learn. There is over 5 checks per play and it must be recognized by the ILB and S calling the plays. They have to be on the same page too… it would work great with guys that have been in the system.. but in college there is too much turnover. That’s why our younger talent never plays.. it’s hard to learn in one year.. damn near impossible. That’s why it really needs to be changed some.. but Saban has built his legacy on that defense. It won’t change.. that’s why we brought in ToTo. He ran in a similar system but it was modified and dumb down.. and he is lost now ans slow reading.

The offense is the same way.. you are given a play book and told this is your scheme. Now you have the freedom to call plays from that book.. but it’s hard to implement something new or style. You heard Saban he didn’t really like the way we had to power run against ole miss. Said it wasn’t our style and wouldn’t be our style. But we had to do it.. I feel that’s why we abandoned the run so much last night. We were trying to force a scheme instead of taking what we had.

Sorry to say guys.. this one is on Saban. I’m know a few insiders will back me up. I have talked to these coaches.. they pitch this. It is what it is.. and usually it works. But BOB is out of place with this playbook and Pete isnt reaching our guys. They are honestly confused and lost. They are second guessing their assignment, so it slows them down.

That’s the truth guys.. from a coach that has kids being recruited. It won’t really change with a new hire. It’s complex and someone will have to change Saban. You wanna know why we looked good against ole miss? They ran hurry up and we had to go with base pre call with out the checks. It let our players play. Teams that slow it down can confuse us because we confuse ourselves

Well the good in all that is.. that’s why we can survive so much over turn and not have growing pains. It’s the same scheme and plays.. so they kids don’t have to learn it as much as the coaches do. Problem is when you lose tons of guys every year.. it’s new to everyone. Saban just needs to simplify it some on defense. Offense is fine.. just needs to be called better and take what is giving. Stop forcing the pass game if running is giving. We really try to be balanced.. and sometimes you just have to go with the run. But then we also need to rotate backs to do that. Seems we don’t have as much comfort in doing that as before. We don’t want to over load BRob and hurt him. This might be a problem all year until we trust someone

Why do a majority of our Defensive players not know how to tackle.

The fundamentals are what is getting us beat.

Not sure I agree with this. Sarkisian's offense wasn't the same offense that Locksley ran, and he was an innovator for scheming new plays. The offense Kiffin ran with Jalen Hurts was not the same as the offense we ran with Tua, and as noted, Tua's offense even with Sarkisian wasn't the same as Mac's offense last year. Maybe this OC just isn't that great.

And yes, I understand the offense Kiffin used with Hurts was one pretty much of necessity , since Hurts' freshman year he wasn't as confident throwing the ball as he became later. Long live the jet sweep.

edit to note that I know Saban has said that the OC will run the Alabama offense, but apparently the OC has plenty of leeway to scheme and play call the way he works and according to the personelle. Also as previously noted, maybe this OC just isn't good in this college game. I had worried about that since he hasn't been a college OC in several years and then he wasn't great by any stretch.
