These are players who were solid while at Alabama but didn't get the spotlight that some of the bigger names got. I'll start with nominating Eryk Anders. The dude was a solid contributor for us in 2009 but didn't get the hype guys like Kareem Jackson, Mark Barron, Rolando McClain, Terrence Cody or even Courtney Upshaw got that season. His sack of Garrett Gilbert late in the fourth quarter of the national championship game gave us the ball inside the five-yard-line when Texas had all the momentum. Now he's a UFC fighter.

Thread made with apologies to 3down10.

Kevin Norwood. He was the ultimate big game player and a really nice complimentary receiver to Cooper.

Nick Gentry was pretty good one game. Alex Watkins took to Nick Saban type coaching. Darius Hanks caught everything thrown his way. Never been a big Brian Robinson fan but the way he sucked it up and stoned UGA blitzes last Saturday was legendary. Too many to list really. These type players are the backbone of any good team.

Evan Mathis. Started to get noticed as a senior i guess but if you look at the tape , the guy was just steady and physical

Actually think he was before Saban but still was underrated by many.

a guy that made the most improvement from one season to the next, chris capps. from one game to the next, chris owens. i know most of us gave chris capps grief, but his senior year, dude played his butt off. chris owens, ive never seen a guy get beat as much as hes been beaten this year, other than capps. but for him to stone that uga d lineman the way he did last saturday, was a thing of beauty. a tip-o-the-hat to both of these young men.

Norwood caught everything. Not the fastest but clutch. Surprised he didn’t find an NFL home.

Bolden, can't believe he wasn't already mentioned.

Didn't he run a 4.4 at the combine?

IMO, Robert Lester was one of the most underrated players during the Saban Era. That dude had a FANTASTIC career.

Josh Chapman at DT was extremely underrated and had a good NFL career.

Cody Mandell was a good punter.

DeQuan Menzie was a good CB.

Brandon Deaderick and Cory Reamer were good defensive players.

Jalston Fowler as FB

4.48. Plenty fast enough to find a roster spot. Not sure what happened.

Probably the winner right there .

I was going to mention Fowler as well but he got a lot of love ( and rightfully so ) on the board

I will always die on the Robert Lester was underrated hill in this conversation.

The dude started for three years and had 14 interceptions which is top 15 all-time in the SEC and tied with Eric Berry.

He is tied #2 (8 Ints - 2010) on Alabama Single Season INT list with Hootie Ingram (10 - 1952) ahead of him. He is also tied for #3 on Bama's Career INT list.
