How much room do we have for transfers?

Looks like we'll be full (edited) if we get Bediako. I'd expect Rojas to transfer (maybe regardless of how many we sign). Any other transfers coming in would need someone to leave. Barring some superstar wanting to come to Bama, I think I'd rather keep the guys we have.

Bediako would be our 4th signee. Herb, Petty, Bruner, and Reese are seniors. We have room for him without needing someone to transfer. If we bring in a grad transfer wing or big to have another upperclassman in the rotation someone will need to transfer though.

We will be right at 13 if we add Bediako.

Lose Herb, Petty, Bruner, Reese

Add JD, Bediako, Holt, Wilson

If we add anyone other than Bediako someone would have to transfer.

Ah, good call. I must have counted one of the "OR"s in sog's post twice.

Even if Bediako puts us at 13, we are still recruiting shooting guards Wesley Cardett and possible transfer Nimari Burnett, and according to Verbal Commits, Kario Oquendo, Keon Ellis's teammate from Florida Southwester Juco. Plus likely to be many transfers this spring with new rules.

But who, other than Rojas, are we willing to trade for them?

We've backed off of Cardet.

I think we would likely take Nimari if he wants to come and that would probably mean Rojas would transfer.

Not sure how serious we are about Oquendo as there has been basically zero talk of him. Several things would have to happen for him to be here and that scenario probably is a net loss.

If Bediako commits, our 13th spot will go to either Rojas, Nimari or someone else in the portal imo.

Tchikou ruptured his Achilles right? I was sort out of the loop for a few weeks around that and all the articles just say an Achilles injury. I assume it must have been a tear/rupture.

If that’s the case it might take him a while to get up to speed next year. Would be nice to have Bediako, Wilson, and him.

Tchikou is going through shooting drills now. No boot or cast. He is coming along. Haing him, Wilson, and I hope Bediako next year should put a damper on other teams driving to the basket on us like this year. Our guards have done an amazing job defensively, but no Danta Hall to swat those layups.

Pretty much this. The guys we have do a great job of preventing opportunities, but if they do get beat, there’s not much behind them to slow the offense down. Tchikou would have been a huge help in that regard, especially with the added weight he’s put in since getting to campus. It would be great to add Cardet or Burnett, but Bediako would make the biggest impact early, IMO.

Playing Tchikou and Bediako inside in a big lineup or even just having the quality depth at the position would be massive for next year.

Can we even remember the last time we had a legit big, much less two??

JaMychal Green is a significant contributor for an NBA playoff team right now. He is averaging 20 minutes, 9 points, 6 rebounds for the Nuggets.

They do, and he can, as can Reese/Herb/Petty. It's just assumed that Reese is the only one that would even consider it.

Bruner was considering going pro before coming to Alabama, but he backed out after COVID threw off the pre-draft process.

247 says we haven't offered, but FL has.

I hope we have though. His highlights show he's pretty good on the defensive side and has a nice stroke.

He might go overseas but he's not getting drafted after this season.

He's a good plus/minus guy for us but not productive enough to get drafted plus his health the past two seasons will be a negative.

I wasn’t really knocking any of these guys. Jermario was solid at Bama and so was Hendrix. Green had a some disciplinary issues with Grant, but given his production in Memphis, it’s a shame we didn’t get more out of his time in Tuscaloosa. Hendrix and Green were really forwards (6-8”, 6-9”), even if they played the 5 some at Bama. I think Davidson was 6-10” and he definitely played like a 5, so I guess the answer to my question is 15 years.

He is definitely good enough to get paid to play basketball somewhere. If it's not the G league there are plenty of international leagues.

He would fit in perfect in Europe or the G league with his shooting and passing ability as a big.
