Yea. I think the European league will be his destination. Should be a good fit.

Could be. Richard Hendrix has had a good career playing overseas, he played in Japan last year, averaged 16 points and 10 rebs per game.

Am I really that old?......

Coming from a family of athletes, Westbrook's Cade Phillips is making a name for himself

quote:

His father, John David, played quarterback at the University of Alabama in the 1990s. His mother, Reagan, played women's basketball for the Crimson Tide.

Reagan's maiden name? Croyle. Yes, Cade Phillips' uncle is former Alabama quarterback Brodie Croyle, and his grandfather is John Croyle, a former defensive lineman for the Tide.

He is 6’8 and basically plays Point forward for his HS team. Would be a great fit. Want bad.

HUDL highlights

He is the 28th ranked player on Rivals 2023 rankings.

Yeah he has a pretty nice game. Whenever I hear about some tall white kid at a non-basketball factory private school I'm pretty skeptical and expect to see a bunch of awkward post ups, a few lobs, some blocked shots that are the result of height rather than anticipation, etc., but this kid can play.

He definitely has some talent, but I'd still be skeptical. That's a whole lot of scoring over sub-six foot white kids. The competition looks worse than my 3a high school played on sand mountain.

Has he done well in AAU games?

Alabama legacy Cade Phillips excited about Tide hoops offer (BOL)
quote:

Alabama is in early on 2023 power forward Cade Phillips of Rainbow City (Ala.) Westbrook Christian School. The Crimson Tide staff offered the 6-foot-8, 200-pounder earlier this year.

“I got a text from my AAU coach telling me to call a number,” Phillips told BamaOnLine last month. “Coach (Antoine) Pettway answered the phone. It was a cool experience. I had to pull over at a gas station. It was very exciting. Of course you see what the program is doing right now. They just got ranked No. 6 in the AP poll. As a program, Coach (Nate) Oats has finally kind of gotten a group of his guys in there and has really gone to work with them this year. It’s showing.”

Pettway is one of the Tide’s top recruiters, particularly going after elite in-state talent. “He said he loved my athleticism and how hard I play the game, my defensive ability,” Phillips said. “They said they feel like they can really develop me at Alabama and turn me into a lot better of a player than I am now, which is what I’m really looking forward to — being a better player than I am now.”

Phillips has just a few Crimson Tide ties … his dad, John David Phillips, played football at Alabama, his mom, Reagan Croyle Phillips, played basketball at the Capstone, his grandfather, John Croyle, played for Bear Bryant, and his uncle, Brodie Croyle, of course also played for the Tide. Given the extensive connections to the program, Phillips says he’s remained relatively neutral.

“Honestly I never was a diehard Alabama or Auburn fan,” he said. “I’ve kind of grown up just loving the sport and soak up anything I can get. Of course I’ve got a couple Alabama ties, but I just never grew up as a solid fan of either one of the teams.”

Regardless of fandom or family allegiances, Phillips is going to do his due diligence on his school of choice. Alabama has plenty going for it in the in-state forward’s eyes.

“Right now they’re scoring in bunches,” Phillips said. “I like to score the ball and I also like to play defense. Those guys play hard. You can tell they love Coach Oats. They’re giving their all every night. They’ve had a couple nail biters where they’ve come out on top just because they play harder than other teams. It’s a really good environment from what I can tell over there of guys working hard and playing to win.”

Thanks. You're the man.

I mean Phillips’ mom and dad both went to Alabama, hard not to think we a big favorite to land him at this point, his game fits our style perfectly as well. He is either gonna grow two more inches and be a really skilled big or stay 6'8 and could possibly be a combo guard/forward for us.

Yeah I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is 100% not true and just him avoiding saying anything bad about Auburn since they have offered him a scholarship. There's absolutely no way that kid grew up neutral.

I was thinking the same thing. If he comes out right now and says he's all Alabama all the way, he's going to miss out on dozens of offers from schools that feel like they just have no chance. If he publicly stays neutral, he's going to get more offers and more options to be able to officially visit and enjoy the whole process. But him not growing up as an Alabama fan would be extremely surprising given his family tree.

I had some of the best moments OF MY LIFE while i was hooping overseas, but none of that compares to being with my family watching Jordan win the SEC championship

From Bruner's sister. Apparently she played Bball overseas and loved it.
