Team quit when milroe got benched. He was the political cancer that cost us at least one title and perhaps Nick saban himself.

Milroe is arguably the worst thing that has happened to alabama football this century.

he wasnt ready in 2023. That team wanted Milroe, they quit playing when Milroe was benched vs South Florida, and that was the only shot he got. Simpson probably should have gotten a shot last year after Tennessee, and definitely after Oklahoma

Either DeBoer didn't want to make a move due to the o line.

KDB was in an impossible spot. New, unknown guy coming in and controversially benching the starter that most people only saw play against UGA and LSU? It'd be a PR nightmare and he'd lose the team

This is something Saban should've handled. It was absolutely clear Milroe was dragging us down in 2023.

By how Saban tells it, he was up to his eyeballs in things he normally could delegate to coordinators and assistants on defense. Pete Golding wasn't cutting it but Saban had developed a level of trust with I suppose. Or he pushed Golding out and just couldn't close on a DC that was healthy enough to do what needs to be done. So, Saban ended up taking a more hands-on role with the defense in 2023. They were statistically about equivelent to the 2022 unit but they made more clutch stops than the prior season. Just a tad better at getting off the field in high leverage moments and it got them to the Rose Bowl nat'l semis.

I think the offense suffered for this situation. Saban probably had to just pick a guy and tell his offensive staff to figure out how to make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

Milroe helped the team win the SEC Championship and make the playoffs in 2023.

Sir!!!!! That's not accurate.

How do you possibly know that? Milroe was horrifically bad the Tennessee game onwards last year. Even a standard game manager would’ve won us more games

Does anyone want to do a statistical breakdown of Ty’s first 5 starts this year vs miLro’s first 5 starts his first or even second year?

Saban made the comment early this season that he and the staff were hoping that Ty would’ve been the starter in ‘23, but said that he was just too inconsistent throughout camps and then practices. He would have a great practice and then follow it up with 2-3 forgettable ones.

This is all water under the bridge. Milroe was the guy at the time. It was his team as soon as BY declared for the NFL draft, and there was not ever a competition at the QB position until JM4 left UA (coaches speaking lip service to the media saying there was a competition does not disprove that). What’s done is done.

It’s clear as day now that Simpson deserved to play last year and we’d be better for it at the present if he had been given a legitimate shot to take the reins last season.

Ty is in a completely different stratosphere than Milroe regarding playing the QB position from the neck up. He also has much better arm talent, throwing mechanics, footwork/pocket awareness, and ANTICIPATION. There is not a QB out there in CFB that I would trade for Ty Simpson - Not One.

My read on the USF benching was that the staff didn't care for how Milroe responded to adversity after the game into early in the practice week. I don't know what it was but the message was received and he mostly played as good as he could through adversity the rest of the season.

Saban took a risk putting players out there who weren't ready in a road game but that's why he was the master manipulator of the athlete's psyche. He must've known taking away the play time was the only way to lock Milroe in for the rest of the ride.

Name Season Comp% TD INT YPG Rating
Milroe (2023) 67.6 9 4 231.8 176.6
Milroe (2024) 73.5 11 2 254.8 225.9
Simpson (2025) 70.3 13 1 295.6 174.7

Milroe was really good through the Vandy game. Vandy was the last time he had more passing TDs than turnovers against FBS opponents.

Same reason I prefer Ty Simpson to Milroe. Crazy how my preferences seem to be the right ones.

Sims was the better option in 2014. Hell, it took until the TSIO for Coker to figure our how to play championship caliber QB play within a run heavy offense.

Obvious from the start Milroe was not a good quarterback. I guess circumstances allowed him to start two years. Saban got caught without a quarterback his last year to coach and they did get to the finals. Decent play in the second half from Milroe would have beaten Michigan. I think DeBoer probably thought he had to start him or lose the team. There were reasons to believe that. I am not going to anoint Simpson as good as others have just yet, but he is a breathe of fresh air. He does look good. If this team continues to improve he could be stellar.

FWIW, Boz and I were texting during the scrimmage he attended in Fall Camp before last season.

He said Simpson was amazing and clearly had a better handle of the new offense.

The tape shows just as well as the production for Simpson right now and I don’t think he’s even fully uncorked his potential. If everyone else around him continues to elevate, he’s got postseason award potential.

Dude is confident as hell in this scheme right now. If he keeps on putting the kind of tape that he’s produced the last 4 games out there, we don’t have to worry about Keelon Russell transferring out for playing time because Ty will be the first QB taken in the draft.

Coker never lost a game as the starter at Alabama. He threw for over 3000 yards with a 67% completion rate in 2015. wtf are you talking about retard?
