Good luck in the draft Ty.

Hope KR is ready to be the man...but he'll have to earn it in the spring.

Be surprised if we don't get a veteran QB for depth from the portal.

We already have Austin Mack and two freshman, think we're fine at QB.

I don't think Mack stays if KR wins the job...and I don't think we want a true freshman as our backup.

Where's he gonna go? The portal will be closed by the time someone wins the QB job.

Small QB class this year. Smart move for him. If he gets drafted later in the 1st round or sometime in the second, he may avoid going to an awful franchise.

Either way, this is the best long term decision he could have made for himself.

My understanding is that there is only one portal window now, if Austin doesn't leave now he's here until next bowl season.

Feel free to correct me, tough to keep up with all this.

We've had two complicated QB's in a row.

Milroe was Lamar Jackson from a potential standpoint who needed more time with an elite QB coach before he should've been starting in our offense.

Ty was an elite midrange passer when healthy with a huge heart but who lacked touch deep and was injured all year and never really had a shot to get back to his ceiling as a result.

I'm thankful for both of them while looking forward to next year with a change.

You are correct. There's no Spring portal now. If he doesn't enter before 1/16, he's here until the next portal opens in January 2027.

Well good news is both of these QBs are Kalens QBs and he recruited them for his system so this spring should be fun with a true competition. Ty was great until his injuries and was a great representative for the university and obviously loved Alabama. Hope he goes in first round and has a great career.

He’s probably getting drafted in the first half of the first, if not going in the first 3 or four picks as part of a QB run

Yep.

This can go one of two ways.

Mack wins the job and plays lights out next year. He goes to the NFL and Keelon starts in 2027.

Keelon wins the job and we have a good backup in Mack for next season. Mack transfers out next January and we have the two true sophomores as backups in 2027.

Mack has an NFL arm and Keelon has a Tua release so I believe firmly we can get quality to elite level QB play from either.

My only concern on Mack is his accuracy and touch on 0-10 yard stuff which he tends to be off target and throw too hard on.

I've seen him hit too many intermediate to deep balls to worry about that part of his game.
