We should play dime all game long with our fast DB as the spy. Rush no more then 4 on obvious passing downs but still keep the spy in the middle of the area where a LB would be.

While I hear you, OU is ranked #1 in the S&P+ rushing metric, and they have a large Oline. I suspect that the sweet spot for us is going to be Nickle, but I could be wrong. I think the only way we got to Dime and stay there is if they are lining up in 4- or 5- wide regularly.

Prevatt, maybe we should play more old school zone and try to keep everything in front of us. Bend but don't break and just outscore them. I like us in a shootout.

You just outlined every Big12 defense's strategy, as they don't have the athletes to play man. We will not do this, as it is a waste of the individual talent in our secondary. We're gonna play aggressive, bump and run, and mix in a lot of combo coverage to try and confuse Murray. We're gonna be more physical vs their WRs than they're used to. It ought to be quite a problem for them.

The question is whether we can stop their rushing attack with 2 high safeties, which we will certainly try to do. If we can do that, then we'll be in good shape versus the deep ball, which they'll throw quite frequently. If they have enough success on the ground that we have to bring a safety down into the box area, then I think we'll struggle more down the field.

But no, there's no way we play zone. I think that's playing to lose, and playing away from our strengths.

in tight coverage, too.

Really? I've watched a good bit of Big12 football this year, and a good bit of OU games. I haven't seen him throw into tight coverage frequently, as I haven't seen much tight coverage. Have you?

depends, of course, on the refs. Hopefully, hopefully I said, they will call it fairly, whether they allow the more physical secondary or not.

Keep him in the pocket and if you can't bust his arse, make sure you can get your hands up. We should be able to knock down quite a few passes

Prevatt is correct. We can't play soft or play bend, don't break defense. Murray will pick us left and right. We might do that if they were pinned inside 20, 30 yards... but anything after that, we have to be aggressive. We have to mix up coverages, confuse him as much as we can. One thing Lincolin is famous for is that he game plan around the team's strength, doesn't necessary focus on a team's weakness... and that can come back haunt him. Also, Keep eye on weather, If it rains, then Alabama will have a game plan to burn the clock as much they can...

His receivers get good separation and B12 defense is Big12 defense. So he hasn't had to throw into tight coverage the majority of the time.

But he has shown the ability to thread the needle when necessary.

I agree with one of your posts above: if we play zone, he will carve us up like Fromm was doing the 1st half of the SECCG.

This could be huge, and thanks for bringing it up. I'll take a Murray incomplete pass in whatever way it comes. I want to see how good they are when they get off schedule.

Yes, but there's really no possibility that we'd ever play zone. Have we ever played zone for much of any game since Saban's arrival? I can't remember one. It's press man coverage, with a lot of combo stuff. It's never just "zone".

We played zone some in 2013, that's the last time I can remember us really heavily leaning on it in any game. Press man will be dicey with 4 matched up against a WR that should be faster than him.

Edit: Combo coverage can still be diagnosed even if we are playing press on one side. Murray is a good enough QB and that offense is designed well enough that they will sniff out the zones if we aren't bringing pressure.

he's practicing, looking pretty good. He's down to just an ankle wrap. It's likely he'll be pretty close to 100% by the 31st, and he missed no practice

Shhhhh. We've been holding that back for the right moment. Jalen to Tua for 6 in the Title Game. Will be a total GOAT move by Saban.

Pretty much agree with everything. Play their WRS hard, stop the run and keep Murray contained. Sounds easy in words but will be a big challenge.

Brass tax I think our Def can get them to punt more than their Def can get us to punt. I think your separation is 3 TDS if we score based off each of their punts compared to ours.

Boz, any truth to the rumor that if Tua starts, Locksley is calling a QB sweep for the initial play against Oklahoma?

There was a kid on woolyal back in the day who made an account and trolled them. They used his email he signed up with and Googled it to find an old Pokemon site he posted on. I think I got myself banned during that. Good times indeed!
