We're fooling ourselves trying to believe that these guys are coming back.
One thing that Saban recruits on, for better or worse, is that Alabama is the way to the NFL.
That's a good reason why most of those guys came here and now they are just following through.
In a bit of a way, it's a lot like the Kentucky model of "one and done" recruiting in basketball. Just in football, for Alabama, it's a "three and done".

Awe absolutely ECB I agree. It’s no secret that Bama does our best recruiting on NFL draft night and I’m not foolish enough to believe we will get back even 30% of our draft eligible guys. I was being facetious about the auburn guys turning down millions to come back.

Auburn pays players to return to school. It's well known. Happened with some of their star players in 2004.

I doubt it. I can’t blame these guys. We saw Jaylen Smith for Notre Dame lose a ton of money a few years back and we saw Tua lose a ton just a few weeks ago.
As has been the case the entire history of football.
You can't play scared of getting hurt.

Majority want to play. Let’s see how the others change or manipulate that decision. IMO they should play this is bigger than 1 person. Although I came from a profession where a man relies on his teammates.

Sparty is probably telling the UM people how much trouble they are in LOL, either that or laughing at them.

Exactly. Which is why they don’t play in many cases.

The vast majority of players play in these games.
I'm sure they exist, but I'm trying to think of a player that sat out a game and went on to have a great NFL career. I'm drawing blanks, but then my list of those I can remember sitting is also pretty short.

It’s a more recent thing so not too many but Christian McCaffery sat out his bowl game.

I don't expect either teams stars to play in bowl games from now on. Too much money to be lost.
Sadly, it's going to turn bowl games into pre A-day practice imo.

Xavier was named a permanent team captain tonight. He gone?

The vast majority of players can still use this game to raise their stock or they aren't good enough for the NFL. First rounders aren't going to raise their profile because of the bowl game. More and more of them are making the smart decision to not play in the bowl game.
And a lot of first rounders are still in the playoffs. They should probably sit out, but I can see the possibility of a championship being too much to turn down.

So was Tua and D. Smith. It’s usually seniors that are named captains, but that can’t be done on this offense. Has a junior captain ever came back for their senior year?

He is military, and is in college currently IIRC.

I can't imagine willingly sitting out my last opportunity to play college football if I was gifted enough athletically to be in that position. But then again I can't imagine my livelihood depending so heavily on my athletic prowess and musculo-skeletal health being at peak levels.

I think that us playing a team like Michigan helps, rather than us playing a team like Memphis or similar. I'd imagine that most of those players would like the opportunity to beat Harbaugh's arse.

That award is voted on by the players, so I dont know why that would single anything about whether a player would come back.
On another note, what is the deal with Jeudy? I didnt see him in the game, late vs Auburn. How much did he play in the 4th qtr? was he hurt? Second team all sec behind Smith.
