I'm loving seeing SDSU get shoved.

I’ll give them credit that they may have given UConn their toughest game of the tourney, but other than a run to start to the game and one in the 2nd half to close it to 5, they were down double digits most of the game.
They really weren’t a top 8 team let alone top 2, just caught a decent amount of breaks to get there. Reminds me a little of the Butler run where they lost to Duke in the finals. Haven’t really heard from Butler since

They were gritty and played well in this post-season.

Everybody loves upsets in the tourney, but when you have more than usual, like this year, you get crappy championship games.

That Butler team was twice the team SDSU is. Had a great coach, too.

Damn, I just realize Bill Murray has a son on uconn coaching staff. Luke is a rising star.

Watts made it sound like it’s either Bradley or JQ….honestly Id only expect both to be here 1 more year…..so give me JQ in that case.

Butler played in the Natty the very next season. They were legit.
Played in the title game two years in a row. Lose to Duke then lose to UConn. Everyone talks about Florida back to back but what Butler did had to be pretty damn close as far as level of difficulty yet they never won it all.
Think of the odds on that. Butler making it all the way to the end twice in a 2 year span yet we have never even won a region in our entire history. 11 opportunities to advance to a regional final game and never pulled through.
Sigh...

Based on Slater's reference of Rhode Island and Michigan for one of our coaches, and Whittle's suggestion that it is someone not currently coaching, it could be EC Matthews rejoining his HS coach. Not exactly sure how I'd feel about not getting a guy with experience though.

That's because their coach went to the Celtics.

Outside of that weird stretch in January, where they lost a bunch of conference games in a row. UConn beat the hell out of everyone they played, including us. Gotta give credit where it's due.

Experience is overrated. You either have it or you don't.

Unless they lose guys to the portal, they'll be just as good if not better next season. They aren't losing much and have the 4th ranked recruiting class coming in.

I mean most people called the tournament to be pretty crazy this year, it was a really weird regular season in the sense that we usually have 1-3 really dominating teams but we didn't really get that this year. I hate being the #1 overall seed and not making the Final Four but looking at it from a neutral viewpoint, it's not really shocking to see it play out the way it did.

quote:Maybe, but based on history we knew one of these 9 teams was winning the title. To fit that mold perfectly and go out with a whimper in the S16 is nothing less than an utter disappointment.
