I know. He can't get out of that?

Actually he didn't say that. It was the fans assuming.

Somebody posted a thought in the discord that made sense. Oats has money but he doesn’t wanna spend it because whatever he pays for a portal guy will be much much more than what Biz, Trelly, and Sherrell are getting and that could really piss them off
Problem is he isn’t gonna fill the holes in our roster unless he spends.

Another thought is he may not want to put a redshirt on one of the freshmen. Always assures they they enter the portal at the end of the season. Happened the last two seasons.

Calm down my guy...
Y'all stressing for no reason. We got a lot of talent on the roster right now. It's time to DEVELOP them.
We don't need Fland...Aden Holloway was just as good out of highschool if not better. Bama doesn't need Lee...Latrell Wrightsell Jr is still the best shooter in the SEC and a good defender for his size!
Bama needs a TWEENER and that's it. Specifically, at the PF/C position.

Im sorry but saying Aden is just as good as Fland or Lee at the lead guard or that we don't them is just ridiculous.
We might end up fine but there's no doubt we could use them and improve our roster.
And yes, we still need that tweener.

I look for aden to improve drastically and lead us in scoring at 18 or so a game.

I agree that we need someone who plays PF but can spend a handful of minutes at center. Arguably more than another guard. This roster has length but it is short on pure size.

Wouldn’t mind us dipping into the Juco ranks or lower tier schools for the next post signee. Should be cheap and those guys usually have a junkyard dog mentality.

When did I say Aden Holloway is just as good as Fland or Lee at the lead guard position?
I said Aden Holloway was just as good as Boogie Fland if not better coming out of highschool.
Where did I mention Lee or the lead guard position in that sentence?
And by the way, I'll double down on the next thing I said...we don't NEED them.
I would take Latrell Wrightsell Jr over Lee any day and twice on Sunday.
Why are you so infatuated with Boogie Fland? What has he done?
I like Lee but he hasn't proven anything versus SEC caliber teams yet.

As of now our backcourt has two McDonald's All Americans, one of which shot over 41% from 3 for us last year, two 22+ year old veterans who can both shoot and defend, and a top 45 recruit.
Some of y'all are acting like we're going to be trotting out Ben Eblen and Avery Jr. or something.
Honestly hope this team has a chip on their shoulder because I think people are underselling this roster.

Maybe he’s got connections to bring over a European kid to round out the roster

Basketball is much more top heavy than it was just 5 years ago and beyond. Multiple alphas on over half the teams in the sec alone and loaded rosters with proven players on half those teams as well. I will feel much better if Keonte Jones comes back into the picture. I'm trying to sell myself on Bol Bowen and Bethea, but they were pretty marginal players on really bad teams last year. For everything Holloway does well, he has a laundry list of shortcomings and some of those he can't control.
As this Bama team sits today, I still don't really have a clue who is the bucket getter when you need someone to be. I'm sure there will be some pleasant surprises, but will this team be competitive with the top 10 as it sits right now? Honestly, I don't really see how, but I'm thoroughly happy with the results of the Oats era so I'm ok with a question mark year.

In a couple of weeks, players report, workouts begin, players scrimmage, and we begin to hear who is good and who needs work. Oats said last year at this time he didn’t think Philon would play much, but after a few sumner scrimmages, he knew he had to start. Right now none of us, as you said, “have a clue.” I really am interested to hear about the three freshmen, though, because all three improved their rankings over senior year.

When you said he was as good out of high school that pretty much says you think he'll be as good or better than them this season.
You mentioned Fland and I've been talking about Lee. That was the first time I've ever said anything about wanting Fland. Saying Im infatuated is bullshite.
I said they could make us better because we need a lead guard and if you think that's Wrightsell, you're delusional. It's not like Lee transferred to USF. The best team in the country wanted him.
These freshmen or transfers haven't proven anything against the SEC either but you keep singing their praises.
