Are we waiting until after Memphis scrimmage before we start making season predictions, or does preseason #2 mean we skip all predictions (because only variance in predictions would be disappointments)?

He is still very young. He reclassified, so he's supposed to be a true freshman this year.

Solid win. Defense might be better this year. Time will tell.

Yeah we are gonna need Cliff, Sherrell, and Grant.
Everytime we take Cliff out in this game they get what they want at the rim
He's supposed to be our backup 4, maybe even a couple minutes at 3. But Stevenson still needs to add some muscle to hold down the post. He's only 18, so he's far from being done developing. A good year, and he'll gain it at the next level.

Some thoughts on the game:
- Can’t stress enough how impressive the team played tonight. Down 3 starter level players and a 5* freshman they handled a projected top ACC team.
- With two big men out it was a great sign to see Bama control the glass. Cliff, Reid, Mo D, and even got some contribution from the Guards were able to own the glass and did well gaining additional possessions on the offensive glass as well.
- Defense is going to be so much better this season. Team is a lot taller and longer at almost every position and with plenty of size off the bench as well, there shouldn’t be many weak spots or weak rotations. Even when we went really small in the backcourt the front court length still caused plenty of problems with Cliff in the middle.
- Positive of having guys out is seeing extended run with the end of the bench. Mo D looks improved and if he finds a consistent shot he’ll be a big time contributor sooner than later. Mallette looks great as a catch and shoot guy. Naas showed some flash but definitely a project.
- Best backcourt in the country is in Tuscaloosa. Sears preseason player of the year, Wrightsell can get buckets and is an underrated defender, if Holloway’s shot is back he can be big time, and Philon looks like a future stud and his defense looks day 1 ready.
Very impressed tonight but it is just a scrimmage. Really encouraged from what we saw from all the new guys. Let’s just try and stay healthy and see what happens. Hate that Youngblood is out for so long, really want to see this offense at full power. We’re going to break some school records this year.

Really liked the hustle that you guys showed. Diving after the ball, jumping for rebounds(yes, not all players do this), running full speed on fast breaks...ect ect...

Forgot that’s where Davin Cosby went, hope he has a good year for them.

Derrion Reid has a lot of Tony Mitchell abilities.
Things he did last night was very Tony Mitchell esk.
-The block shot and the save
-The one handed alley oop

Saw an article this morning that is now saying Alabama expects Youngblood back in January in early SEC competition.
That really sucks if true. I thought it was a mid December forecast for him which would give him 2-3 weeks of conditioning and getting used to the ankle again before conference play. I still think he would have been a top 3 player on this team if healthy.

I'm not even gonna consider Youngblood until he's healthy. Because even when he's back, he'll still have to take the job away from someone holding it down for 2+months, and against a lot of ranked ooc opponents. So...
Sears
Trelly
Reid
Nelson
Cliff
Philon
Holloway
Mallette
Stevenson
Sherrell
If Youngblood had not got hurt, I'd have put him at starting 3 and Reid as backup 3. Mallette is gonna still play. That shot is too clean. I'm definitely not gonna refer to 11-13 as "cut". Though we won't run 12 deep by March. But early, expect double digit guys getting minutes every night.
Edit: shite, I forgot about Mo D. This is fricking impossible. Probably will have Mo above Mallette. We've got shooters, but Mo is the king of intangibles. If his 3 has developed enough where he can reliably hit open catch and shots (just enough to keep the D honest), he's gonna be a damn menace.

At the game last night, Mo D had moments where he looked like one of our best players off of effort alone. Just an embarrassment of riches knowing he's going to have to fight for pt.

Complete nonsense. Jarin is already a projected draft pick. Were you there last night?

Coaching staff likes what they have in him. Herb Jones comps keep coming.

I assume guys who are going to be left out of the rotation. But honestly, to try and set a normal 2 deep really doesn't workb when most your guys will play at 2-3 different positions.
