Well, yeah, that's kind of my point. We know that signing a bunch of top 10 prep recruits is pretty hit or miss generally and doesn't translate well to winning in the postseason anymore. Even Cal finally acknowledged it the other day. It just seems that Duke is using that exact same strategy (10 prep signings in the last two classes with the lowest ranked player being #37) without a fraction of the criticism that Cal was getting the last few years.

I don't get it with this guy. Yall ever seen him shoot? it's the weirdest knuckeball I've ever seen. It sometimes doesn't even make 1 full rotation before reaching the basket. It's weird, and it won't work in the long run.

You make him sound like Joakim Noah. That jumper is fine, ain't like the kid Shawn Marion or MKG.

Hmm... Right after Mark Sears announces he's coming back. Would be cool to know that if we lost Mark, if we could've convinced him to come over with Mark's NIL package.

The Mavs used their two centers at about 20 mins each and killed the TWolves with lobs and rim protection. I think we could do something similar with Cliff and Sherell.

How many minutes was Chuck getting two years ago on games he wasnt in foul trouble?

Of Sears, Philon, and Halloway, who is the best at throwing the lob pass? I know Grant Nelson likes to throw lob passes so it might be interesting to see what they do with him as a ball handler next year. They let him cook in the UNC game. Can we get more of that? Was it just a bad matchup for them? Bacot isnt a scrub but he couldnt do anything with Grant facing the basket 1v1.

Bama ranked #1 in SI’s Too-Early Top 25 poll. And so it begins . . .

quote:

1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Nate Oats has built a burgeoning powerhouse in Tuscaloosa, with a pair of SEC championships and a Final Four to the program’s name in its last four seasons. This season might be the Tide’s best chance yet to cut down the nets. Mark Sears’s return to school after averaging more than 21 points per game a year ago is massive, as was Grant Nelson’s earlier decision to spend one more year with the Tide. Like any Oats team, this one has tons of shooters around its best players, and unlike last season, the Tide have an elite rim protector to anchor the defense in Clifford Omoruyi (Rutgers Scarlet Knights).

I think Sherrell could easily slide over to the 4. Only problem with putting him there is it takes minutes away from Nelson/Stevenson. Man, I wish college basketball would go to 12-minute quarters.

There's literally no reason not to other than the need to increase the scholarship cap. There'd need to be a corresponding increase in non-revenue women's scholarships though, which I'm sure is the holdup.

That sounds awful. I like the two 20 minute halves. I also like 1 and 1s and hope they never change either of them.

I do think eventually they will move to Mens game to 4 10 min Quarters like the women

Halves sucks vs quarters. Mainly for guys like Doug Shows and TV Teddy. I've seen too many times where the refs are whistle happy coming out of halftime, and every foul has free throws for the next 15 minutes. It makes the game unwatchable and your team getting screwed.

I do like the 1 and 1. It won't happen, but I wish the NBA would change to that system.

Why? Even high schools play quarters. Halves just turn late game situations into a mess because both teams are inevitably in the double bonus, which gives refs even more influence than they already have.

I agree the Double Bonus is annoying. But I think going to quarters would get rid of 1 and 1s which I love.

Just got home from Bama bball camp including an hour long open practice. I’ll post some long form thoughts tonight but in short we are absolutely stacked.

Guy on BOL was saying Holloway didn’t miss. And that Cliff is a better shooter than we thought.

If we get The Aden Holloway that was expected out of HS….OMG

Also BOL guy said this:
quote:

I've been most impressed with Philon so far. Active hands, several rebounds, no breathing room when defending, great shot.

That backup PG battle is gonna be legit
