Yuck. Even if true, I don’t like a coach speaking that way about his players publicly.

Well I am 0-3 this year seeing games in person so I am done for this year. Kentucky’s length was too much for our guards tonight. Just looked sluggish on both ends except for Bediako

Let's not overreact. Coming off a game where your 3 guards shot 7/32 from the field, 1/13 from three, and moved to 300+ in 3pt percentage, it's fair to say they need to get more shots up on their own.

It's a challenge, one that I'm sure has been issued to them privately before. This isn't Tom Crean going scorched earth on his players.

Torvik now has us going 18-13 (8-10). That's #9/10 seed territory.
If it’s not 17-12 it’s not Bama basketball.

SoG, when you’re poking around in the advanced stats, I’d like to know our splits between open 3s and contested 3s. I suspect our success rate is higher with the latter, which is crazy. Our guys can’t hit warmup type 3s when the lights come on.

I'm not convinced 17 gets us in.

If 17 doesn't get us in with our schedule, then our scheduling crew needs to change up their tactics. No sense in going through a gauntlet of good to great teams if it means the committee will just use it as a tie breaker for HM schools with the same record.

We missed Miles today. Our best shooters are our lead guards, they have to create their own shots off the dribble because no one else can put the ball on the floor and initiate offense on this team.

We lost 3 catch and shoot floor spacers from last season who finished the drive and kickouts (Primo,Petty, and Reese) from our lead ball handlers.

Our guards are producing good looks, we get quality shots, but our receivers are now Rojas, Gary, and Gurley. Keon being in a mini shooting slump hasn’t helped either, but teams will happily live with our forwards beating them from 3.

We have guards with the ability to go scorched earth from occasion, and that’s gonna be our punchers chance in the tournament if we don’t completely collapse and find a way to not make it

Outside of some high points this season has definitely been a down year relative to preseason expectations. However we’re in a better position at this point in the season than we ever were with an Avery team. Not a moral victory guy, but it’s nice to see our basketball expectations rising and overall stock in the program going up

Some of y’all just really expect Oats to shoot and not turn the ball over for them I guess. We didn’t look good tonight, but all the open shots and stupid turnovers I saw tonight, NONE of that shite can go back to Oats. NONE

I am so tired of reading this take - Oats can't make open shots for them. Did you ever wonder why we are getting so many open shots from 3?? It's because we miss 75% of them? Why the frick would you contend shots from Rojas, Holt, Gary, Gurley and Davidson? Rojas was 0-4 tonight and literally did NOT draw iron on 3 of them! I'm not even sure what is worse - a complete air ball or only hitting the backboard (which he did tonight). My 90 year old bed ridden mother could have come just as close.

I mean my God, allowing any of them to just shoot from 3 because they are open is completely coaching!! He is allowing it. For 4 of the 5 (giving Davidson the benefit of the doubt) Oats should point to that 3 pt line and say that means you are not in your range yet.

Do you know how bad Reese was killed on this board last year?? And now you want to act like he was Steph Curry or something last year. He was 35-124 for a 28.2% clip from three. Granted that would probably be an improvement on the shitshow shooting we have seen this season but still ....

And with so many people ripping JD tonight I can't believe you didn't tell us how wrong everyone is about him and he will be a first round pick. I will say this - if he is a first round pick this year, that GM should be fired.

Im sorry that’s what you got out of that. Teams wouldn’t leave the guy wide open is what I mean, he’d bring his defender (typically a big) to the perimeter. Floor spacer.

We just aren’t that good. JD and Gurley have been major disappointments. Q has somehow regressed from what he was last year. Ellis hasn’t taken the next step, he just disappears way too often. Miles can’t stay out of the doghouse. Gary hustles like hell but he doesn’t really fit the system. Shack is our best player. He has his limitations but he’s the best shooter we have. Bediako is a bright spot. You can see him getting better and he’s going to be a force.

JD has been disappointing but I wouldn’t give up on him yet. You can see flashes. Remember Petty was supposed to be a one and done as well but ended up staying four years and was pretty damn good as a senior. Also Pollard, who was the worst 5 star I’ve ever seen, actually ended up contributing a lot for Houston. Sometimes it takes guys, especially from smaller schools, longer.

The big question is what happens with this roster. Neither Q, Shack, or JD are getting drafted. What do they do? I can’t imagine that Q, JD, and Bradley are all on the same roster. Miles, Tchikou, KAH, and Holt could all be portal candidates. Will be interesting how Oats handles this offseason.

I'll react. Many of us could have made more shots than were made out there, it was not because of D it was middle school level shooting.,

BENCH THEM. Stick the portal candidates out there for a bit how can they do worse?

Giving up on any freshman is premature, but this is just a poor comparison. Outside of the Alabama fanbase, no one hyped Petty up like that. He was a borderline 5* recruit. Those guys aren't 1 and dones very often. Typically they're multi-year college players, so Petty staying all 4 years was nothing unusual. JD was a borderline top 10 recruit. Those guys are generally considered to be one year college players. The fact that he looks like a guy who should have been ranked in the 60-75 range and will end up being a 3-4 year college player is what is so disappointing. He was a massive recruiting misevaluation by all the recruiting sites, as well as our staff.

Near 25 games into a season and he's asking his players to go practice shooting.

Nate made mistakes putting together this team character wise and it's not fixable this season.
