We had them on the ropes and Miles had that one bad stretch that let them stretch it back out to 10…..and then it was over

That stretch killed us, we had all the momentum down 2 with the ball, and then…. It is what it is though, on to the next.

Yep - you can't let a chance and momentum like that slip away against a team that good in that building.

It was a bad stretch. No doubt. But TBF to Miles, we all thought he had a pretty significant knee injury in the UGA game and he wasn’t supposed to be back until UK at a the earliest per the reports this week.

I think foul trouble led to him playing a hell of a lot more minutes than he should have had to play.

Yea, Miles was gutting it out. No issues with him there. You just have to play a near perfect game to hang out for 35 minutes against a team like that at their place to have a shot late and we didn't quite do it.

Only thing pissing me off tonight is us letting that walk-on get a 3pt play to put them at 100. That was the only pathetic effort I seen

JD with ZERO points.
overall he’s been a disappointment this year outside of a couple games (he was great against Baylor). Just wish he’d focus more on getting better instead of trying to troll the Auburn crowd pregame and then score ZERO POINTS and making things worse

I think he needs to come back next year. He is setting himself up for the G-League for a couple of years if he leaves. It would be interesting to see who would start between him and Jaden Bradley

Bediako shows potential(the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half tonight was outstanding)he just needs to get tougher and stronger

Rojas, Holt, Davison = garbage. Oats still hasn’t figured out when to call a timeout. First one he calls is under 4 in the second half when we were down 18 or 20. Great recruiter - roll the balls out backyard basketball coach.

Go watch football highlights because that may be the dumbest assessment I’ve ever seen.

Tell me you’re an FOG without telling me you’re an FOG.

Y’all LOOOOOVE to say the dumbest shite whenever we lose. Just mind boggling sometimes

Been following Alabama basketball since the late 70’s. Where do you disagree?

Rojas is terrible, Holt 1-13 (.077) from the field, 1-11 (.091) from three and Davison can’t shoot or defend and turns it over way too much. Compare him to Kira Lewis who was really good at UA but can’t even get on the floor in the NBA.

Right here. I don’t even have time to dive into all the details I need to for how wrong this is. Timeouts I’ll agree with but I understand also why he doesn’t, but that quote right there is just a cop out answer.

I’m not overreacting to last night - they are really good, at home, etc. If we could somehow come out of this week 2-1, that would be amazing. 1-2 wouldn’t even be that bad.

However, what stood out to me last night was why Auburn is so good this year. We brought back more than them. We brought back Shackleford, JQ, Keon, Gary, etc. They brought back Flanagan and a few other role players.

Jabari is a sort of a unusual case, in that he was a top recruit that was even better than expected. But everyone else: Green, Kessler, KD Johnson - they just nailed the transfer portal.

We, meanwhile, just haven’t gotten enough from our newcomers. It was really JQ and Shack carrying the team at times last night.

Nate has done an amazing job, but I think it’s questionable whether or not he’s really adapted to how much the transfer portal has changed things. Outside of Quinerly and Bruner pre-injuries, it hasn’t been good.

I think it has to change your philosophy about recruiting to some extent. For example, do you bring in freshmen that aren’t ready to contribute - that may become good players in 2-3 years if they stick around? Do you bring in JUCOs? I think Pringle looks physically ready to play, but they better feel strongly about him, because you don’t NEED to go JUCO anymore.

Pearl only brought in one high school recruit last year, to go with 4 transfers. And nailed all of them. There’s some luck there, but it’s just an amazing use of the portal.

(Edit: Nimari may well be really good. Again there is some luck involved - Pearl didn’t have one of his transfers pick up a season ending injury)

I’m gonna be honest and I hope I’m completely wrong on this, but Nick Pringle does not excite me. I don’t ever seen him contributing here.

This is it really. Every single one they brought in from the portal seems to be elite. The sad thing is, that is scary. Pearl will be able to just hand pick any player he wants from the portal due to his success while the rest of CBB is left with the "scraps". That is one area Oats HAS to try and catch up on. I also feel like we have just been unlucky on the injury front since Oats has been here, whether it is before the season or during the season.

To me Kira Lewis had-has way more potential than JD. Kira was actually playing well this year before the knee injury. I hope I am wrong on JD but I just do not see the foot quickness and speed. You cant teach that and you really cant develop it more than a little. Those NBA 2 guards are tall and can shoot the lights out. I just dont see the quickness to play the point in the nba. Would you rather have JQ or JD at point guard? I do think he can be a good solid college player. If Kira Lewis was on this team, we would have more wins than we currently have. He would blow past a defender for an uncontested lay up many times, and on the fast break just out run everyone. Now, he had some bad nights like every freshman, but he affected a bunch of games with his speed and quickness. And he had the foot quickness to play solid defense.

Pringle has no outside shot either.Maybe he will turn into a Donta Hall type.Jd doesn't have that junkyard dog attitude like Sexton had.

This isn't an Oats thing, this is an Alabama basketball thing going back many seasons. We will always have one or more players go down with a significant leg injury in the summer. It is what it is.

first post in over a day so forgive me if this was discussed.

I see where JD did not start and Q did. Good move. JD played over 20 minutes with 0 points but had 4 assists

I had other obligations so did not watch the game so i usually go to the stat page to see what players did

Everyone knows of real smart people who have no walking around common sense and are insecure with other people. Do we have any BB players who are talented athletically but have no BB IQ, Kind of an analogy with smart people lacking common sense.

Davison has been a big disappointment. Can't deny it. He has no interest in seeking out a shot...not willing to use his size and length as a guard to his advantage as a slasher. He ought to be a young Russell Westbrook given his raw skills and measurables.

Ultimately though, the failings of this squad are less about Davison being a big miss as a lotto type 1-and-done and more about the frontcourt just not being worth a damn. Alabama is losing games because they have no defensive presence at the rim and get almost nothing on offense from anyone besides the guard/wing players.
