This goes well beyond X's and O's and schemes and responses. These guys are mentally detached and don't seem to either really, really want to reattach or don't know how to reattach.
Either way, the players are to blame, but that's the coach's damn job. That's what you are paid to do. And Nate very clearly has NO ANSWERS for what the deal is or how to fix. None.

Quinn is inside his own head, he's lost all confidence. Shaq is trying to do too much ..
JD is a freshman that played 1A ball and it shows.
Holt= not very good
Chuck= Raw
Gurley=terrible
Miles= lazy
Rojas plays hard, he just doesn't play smart.
I have no complaints with Ellis's play.
This team has zero chemistry and I'm not sure how a coach can instill that into a team.
But I'll keep watching, maybe we will find ourselves.
Last but not least..Quinn isn't point shaving..stfu with that shite. That's a pretty damn serious accusation with your only proof is that missed some shots.

The chemistry on this team is terrible.
Somehow Oats just figured that some talk was going to correct it.
There has to be some type of infighting about something.
Something had to happen along time of the Memphis game. Maybe later.
But, this team now is not really competitive, most certainly is not consistent. And right now, I'd be surprised to see this team finish with at least a.500 record in the league, and win any more than 1 game in the SEC tournament.
And this team will lose to Baylor by a minimum of 15 points.

I know I will probably get sucked back in at some point only to be disappointed again but right now my give a damn has gone

Wouldn't mind seeing some attrition with the staff this offseason. I don't know if that is Charlie Henry or Pettway or both.
Pett is awesome and I love him, but maybe it's just time. We don't need him as our ace recruiter like we used to and it would benefit him to step out of Tuscaloosa and see what he can do.
Charlie is obviously important to us and what we do. Everyone, including the players, always speak very highly of him, but he brings absolutely nothing that I can see as a recruiter. We had a piss poor defense his first year, great defense his second year with Herb dominating the world and now another piss poor defense this year.

They'll need to find some toughness tonight. Friday we will find out they had a good week of practice and are mentally ready for Baylor. Saturday we will be down 26-7 halfway through the first half.

This is on Oats. He has not been able to course correct when we started going off the rails. He is not an experienced coach, still learning on the job.
Doesn’t know how to light a fire under the key players. It is what it is.
No idea what’s with Quinerly; missing threes and layups,inconsistent FT shooting. Dumb TOs at critical junctures.
Shadow of the player he was last year and Oats hasn’t been able to help him.

This is about where I'm at. This team had a very strong OOC performance, so we know it's not the talent. Something happened and now the chemistry is wrecked and the body language of the players is concerning. We may never really know the true reason but this season got wrecked off the court.

Everybody has a conspiracy theory on here it’s crazy. From Oats has lost the team to our lead guard is point shaving.
We lost all of our wings, we switched everything on defense last year, no longer a possibility
This year we have guards, and bigs(1 Wing-Miles can’t create for himself just yet)
Losing Burnett really hurts, but it is what it is. Nothing we can do abt other than sulk.

Chad, you are the most level headed, non emotional guy on this board and you love Tide basketball. What do you think about things right now and moving forward?

If there has to be a sacrificial lamb, I hope it’s Henry because he doesn’t recruit and like you said, the one area he’s supposed to be the guy is what we are worst at.

I don't think very many people want to fire Nate Oats.

Who in this thread has said anything about firing Oats?

Nah. That might work if we didn’t look as good as we did during non-conference. This team hasn’t been the same since Houston.

Herb, Petty and Primo were all good defenders . We have none now
Herb and Primo were also two of the hardest workers on the team, and Petty was as well after his December trip home. Our leaders seem to be soft mentally and physically this year.

Staring down a losing season at this point. How embarrassing.

Not fire. Just want him to not act like a douche when his team is arse.
You can’t do this when your team is this bad.
