Shooting is part of it but during this three game losing streak, we have scored 86,77, and 76 points. We’ve been shooting a shitload of free throws and actually making them so that’s helped. And the three point shooting is bound to get better somewhere. But we shouldn’t have to score 80 or 85 points to just win a ballgame. Defense and rebounding are the true issues and I don’t know that they can be fixed.

A couple hours later and I literally have no clue how we almost won that game. Like who played well?
We actually hit our free throws and State missed almost as many wide open 3s as we did.

And we tried pressing and pressure a few times earlier this year and it was a total disaster.
Ole Miss is having some success against Auburn with a zone. I’d like to see us go back to it more in earnest. We simply can’t keep playing man to man and hoping something changes.

Maybe this is just the word collection of defenders in Alabama history

I'm starting to lean towards this. There isn't a style of defense they can play well, because at any given time we have at least 2 players on the court who are such atrocious defenders that it's literally impossible to function on that end because of them. Like I said, our entire backcourt is Shannon Hale bad on defense. 3 players on par with literally one of the softest, worst defenders in program history.

Our shooting the last month has been absolutely awful.....and we're still 30th in offensive efficiency.

We're 166th in defensive efficiency.

JD needs to be handed the KEYS and Nate Oats needs to tell him too LEAD us. JQ is not the leader obviously and he's better suited for the SIXTH MAN ROLE.

My only gripe with Gary is he's starting to hang around the three point line too much instead of back cutting to get alley oops and easy layups.

Keon Ellis isn't a bad player nor has he regressed but the problem is that his surrounding talent just isn't good.

JQ has regressed a lot plain and simple. I expected a lot of maturation out of him

Shack just needs to be a SHOOTER anything else to me he's overdoing it. (Terrible Decision Maker)

JD doesn't have good shooters around him and that's been the kicker because it clogs the lane but he is OUR BEST DECISION MAKER and he should be the starter before JQ!

Miles is just too dang inconsistent!

Jusuan Holt needs to take more minutes shoot I rather watch him give 100% effort all the time and he's probably one of our better defenders

I mean they had to be banking on Burnett being our defensive stopper and JD being similar to Sexton on defense, i.e. bad, but with enough motor and athleticism to somewhat offset the lack of defensive instincts. Like, there's no way they knew JD was this bad on defense and brought Shack back instead of pulling a longer or more athletic guard from the portal. Surely.

So you going at JD because his defense? Have you seen JQ'S and Shack's? They are terrible! They have multiple years of experience and they still are GARBAGE.

They have all been terrible, but we're talking about roster construction. Try to keep up.

We don’t force any Turnovers and hardly ever take a charge

Guys I think I’m hurting the team. Whenever I turn the channel in frustration we go on a run…when I watch we suck.

Whenever I’m not watching Auburn they play terribly, when I watch they can’t miss

Did Oats take any ownership of our poor play tonight or was it strictly blame their toughness in the PC?

This gentlemen is an NIT team. The league has a book on them now. Drive throw it up and pound the boards. They will go .500 in the league at best. Prove me wrong and I say AT BEST.

We have no big men right now. Bediako will be good down the road but not now, Gurley is a role player at best, KAH the same if that, Gary and Rojas are not really bigs, and you have a 6'11 230 plus Tchikou who must be truly putrid because he can't get in a game at all.

Disagree. We get plenty of open looks every game….we just never make them

No offense Joka, but besides the class clown in here, you’re the biggest JD homer in here.

While i agree with some of your takes, and that JQ should maybe come off the bench next game to see what happens, handing JD the keys doesn’t make me comfy at ALL. He shows flashes, but he had absolutely zero assertiveness on the offensive end and is good for just as many/if not more boneheaded turnovers than Q,Shack, etc.

While i think oats should try to ramp up his roll and ENCOURAGE him to starting getting his own and being
More assertive, im not sure id just dish the keys to the car to him right this minute.

Absolutely not a bash towards you whatsoever! But you do tend to take up for JD almost any chance you can and overlook alot of his flaws.

Yeah, our shot quality is very good. We just aren't hitting them with any consistency. It seems to be a mental block at this point.

JQ has been a total disaster late in the game recently. It's time to switch things up and let JD be our starting and closing guard. Once he gets back on track JQ can be off-ball in the late game situations instead of letting him have total control of the offense. We almost for sure would have won these last two games without him, which is a depressing thought considering how much hype we gave him after how he closed last year.

This bullshite is starting to become a bad look for Oats. He is losing the team.
