Did JD get 5 stars and the accolades because he can jump high? He sucks at actually playing ball.
Apply for a head scout position, the NBA is dying to have genius like this

I mean...let's just box out on rebound opportunities and not give up on plays?
This has been their #1 problem, even more than their 3-point shooting %, or their turnover #s. They have been embarrassed on their defensive glass all season long, and between that and the turnovers, I'm not sure a team can realistically shoot well enough to overcome both of those.

Last year we were undefeated when we scored at least 75 in regulation.

This year we have already lost 5 games

It’s hard to fathom being 0-3 in the last 3 with how well we’ve shot from the FT line. I really think they should have had Keon purposely miss the 3rd, but he calmly nailed all three on the road. Clearly they’ve been working on them and I’m just hoping we can get out of our 3 point slump soon.

Btw, Chuck had a couple good box outs and rebounds down the stretch that showed some fight. Hoping he can build on that.

We rebounded much better, and I'm pretty the turnover #s weren't as high.
Bottom line: You just can't continue to give your opponent shot after shot at the rim, while giving so many points away on turnovers.
PS- Didn't I hear the announcer say that State had 20 points off of turnovers?

This is a skilled team but not a tough team. Those seniors from last year had been through a lot of wars and knew what toughness on the basketball court looked like. We don’t rebound or defend. That’s not a talent problem.

Already has an NBA body. He’s extremely explosive and athletic even for NBA standards. In an open NBA floor he’ll be a beast. What’s understood doesn’t need to be explained, you people will see in July. Done talking abt it, if no one has anything else to say neither will I.

first post in a while but there was on offensive set where MSU had like 6 offensive rebounds. Yes I know you guys have said rebounding is a problem

Is this team going to get to 8 wins in the SEC? I know they are capable of it but will they?

At this point JD needs to start and be told to play without fear.

JQ needs to go back being the 6th man and if he has a problem with that he can sit at the end of the bench in street clothes for 40 minutes.

There was a stretch late in the game that State was getting literally EVERYTHING that came off the board. I had flashbacks of the Houston and Memphis games watching.

Sounds like the HC is as much a problem as his players.

Athletes and no IQ.

How do you even fix that?

A lot can be fixed by scheming and presenting open shots.
But, I think they're already getting their share of open shots, just aren't connecting.

I dunno about no IQ, I just think they are not individually good defenders, aren't super athletic (Shack/JQ) and have been in one of the worst shooting slumps I've ever seen as a collective.

It’s frustrating and no this isn’t a great team but it’s still underachieving right now. There’s more talent on this team than the results we are getting.

Ellis, Q, Gary- tell me those three haven’t regressed. For whatever reason, they were better players at the end of the year last year.

Gurley- was a miss. I actually don’t think he’s a bad player but he doesn’t really fit. We needed a more polished version of Bediako for that spot.

JD, Chuck- they are freshman so I’m willing to give them more of a pass. Chuck will be better as he matures. I know JD has been disappointing for a 5 star and he probably should be back next year, but I’d almost bet money when he gets to the combine, he will turn beads and still be a first round pick.

Miles actually plays good in spurts and I think he needs more minutes.

While we're dumping on our guards, I want to mention Shakleford's liabilities. He's almost totally a left handed player, and he's slower than cold honey. Defensively, he can't stay in front of any moderately quick guard.
Boys, I'm afraid we've got another year to go before we can start bumping chests and shite-talking opponents...I hope I'm badly mistaken.
