I've heard some rumblings that Chuck wants a $50,000 NIL deal for this upcoming season.

If we can’t give one of our key returners $50,000 for NIL then we have got major problems

Yeah if we let our interior defense die over $50,000 we don't deserve to be worth a shite in basketball. That's not much at all relative to what he did for us.

It’d be a lot more believable if there was an extra 0 included.

Yeah, I can totally see him saying pay me what I will get as a late 2nd round pick, a priority G-League signing, or in Europe. $50k is fricking pocket change for a dude who could be SEC DPOY.

I'm going to refuse to believe we are losing Chuck over $50k. If he is not getting NIL then who is?

Aren't foreign nationals unable to receive NIL or at least it's much harder?

It can lead to complications with their F1 Visa student status. There are restrictions on the activities for employment while in the US as a student. However, they can have NIL sponsors (US and foreign based), but I believe they can't do anything while in the US to earn money, such as signings, commercials, etc. They can however do them abroad.

The NBA G League average salary is increasing for the 2022/23 season. Per The Athletic's Shams Charania, the league's wages are being augmented by $3,500, going from $37,000 to $40,500. This is the first time in the G League's history that players will have an average salary of over $40,000.

So maybe that $50k number is correct. But if we can't scrape $50k together for a guy like Chuck, then we are in deep shite as a program. Especially having won 2 of the last 3 conference championships. It's not like we've been playing like Georgia or Ole Miss lately.

I don't believe none of that stuff concerning Bediako's NIL situation.

Bama basketball has NIL money... people love to put this narrative out there when it's nothing else to talk about.

4 star recruit but only averaged 1.3 pts and 1.8 rebounds last year for Washington St. Probably really really raw but maybe he could kind of help solidify the backend of the defense. I don’t know how much I’d expect for someone that couldn’t get but 6 minutes a game at Washington St. We are at the point though we can’t be too choosy. Maybe he develops and helps in the future.

Would be kind of shocked if Phillips doesn't end up at Auburn.

Along with the juggling the transfer process, the 6-foot-8, 200 pound forward from Blythewood (SC) has also been participating in the 2023 NBA Draft process. Per a source close to Phillips' camp, Phillips' first and foremost priority remains on the draft. As of today, Phillips is leaning towards staying in the draft (the deadline to withdraw is May 31) following a very strong outing at the combine.

Phillips will need an NCAA waiver if he wants to return to college and play for an SEC school.

He's an intriguing prospect for sure. I think he has a lot to work with in terms of athletic ability. He will need skill work but Coach Oats hired some really good coaches who I think can develop him if he wants to come here.
