Hopefully not. Getting him back for another year at this point would be like suddenly getting a commitment from a top 10 recruit.

With Purdue losing, we’re looking great to snag the South region. We’d have a bunch of people go to Louisville from Nashville, Huntsville, Birmingham, etc.

Given how the NCAA tourney selection committee has worked the last few years:
If Alabama wins out in the regular season, they're a lock for a 1 seed.
If Alabama wins out in the regular season and wins a game in the conference tourney, they are probably the #1 overall seed.
The committee just doesn't put much weight into the conference tournaments anymore it seems.

I think Kansas will end up the #1 overall seed. Doesn’t really impact us getting the South region though. We’ve just gotta stay ahead of Houston for that. Not worried about Purdue with another loss by them.

Ostensibly when you're overall #1, you get the worst 2, 3, 4, etc seeds.
I think geographic proximity is preferred but also getting the best draw on paper is nice.

Yeah, only way I see us getting #1 overall over Kansas is not losing again until the NCAAT while they lose another regular season game and don't make it to the Big 12 tournament final. At that point I think it's probably fair to give it to us because we'd have like 12 Q1 wins and a double conference title, but 2/3 of Kansas' schedule is Q1 games this season and they are 15-5 in them so far.

I think 1 regular season and 1 tournament win accomplishes that as well. UCLA is the only current 2-seed that’s nipping on the heels of Bama, Houston, Kansas and Purdue

Yeah, I'd say at any point after a teammate was arrested for capital murder, it was a dumb as frick thing to do.

The Pac-12 is a 2 bid league. UCLA has no business even being a 2 seed IMO.

UCLA is solid. Physical team. Cronin is a good coach. Still have Jaquez, who hit some big shots in that Sweet 16 game a couple years ago.

I think it is much ado about nothing but I've got to say that the UA Athletics PR people have done an awful job of managing messaging and considering optics.
That should've been scrubbed after someone saw it happening in the first game after the Miles murder charges.
Oats has consistently seemed a bit under-prepped for the media coverage. Only recently has he taken the track of just redirecting to prior statements from the AD. That likely only comes from UA legal counsel gag ordering him after catching wind that they're likely to have the victim's family sue them.
I don't want to be that bama basketball guy but if a similar circumstance was happening on the football team, this would've been managed much better.
Perhaps that comes from the football head coach having more experience in how disingenuous and petty sport journalism coverage will be when you're a top program.
I can't help but think that part of it is UA Athletics isn't putting an A-team effort on this crisis management.

Oats should listen to Clay Travis and the media. He shouldn’t start Miller.
He should not start him then call an immediate timeout after tip-off and place him in the game.
