I just want to play Tennessee again in the SEC tourney. Something tells me it's not going to go so well for them playing away from Thompson Boling Hacking Arena.

Houston's playing the second best team in their conference today and are favored by 14. American is a joke of a conference this year.

Call me Crazy but I think Vandys resume at 15-12 is superior to UNC at 16-11….and Vandy ain’t even in consideration.

Right. Kendrick Davis, who scored 30 against us in Coleman, is hurt and not playing. Too bad. Memphis had gotten themselves off the bubble and in, but will be hard for them to win without him.

That doesn't change the fact that Houston hasn't played anybody good in a long time. They have the 100th ranked strength of schedule.

I will give Memphis credit they battled without Kendric Davis.

Penny is actually a decent coach now

His teams, outside of the start of last year with all the highly ranked guys, play extremely hard. They play kind of crazy but they get after it every night on both ends.

Charles Bediako has been a massive piece for Alabama this season and deserves more recognition.

He's 9th in the entire country in Bayesian Performance Rating at LINK which measures overall player impact.

Let's dive into why he has been so good

quote:

Charles Bediako rates as the 3rd most impactful defender in the entire country at LINK

He has the best Defensive Box BPR on the team, which estimates values based purely on individual box stats. His 4.5 blocks per 100 possessions is top 20 in the nation.

quote:

Alabama has a top 3 defense in the country, and it plays at its best with Bediako on the floor.

When he's on the court, Alabama gives up 81.4 points per 100 possessions (adjusted for opponent players faced)

quote:

Bediako makes a huge impact on the game despite not being an offensive creator. At LINK you can filter players based on their offensive role (Creator = 1, Receiver = 5), with Bediako having a role of 4.3.

He's the best in the country with a role of 4 or 5.

Yep, numbers don't lie. It was the same last season, he just kept getting into foul trouble and we couldn't keep him on the floor. He's been much better at defending the rim without fouling this year.

He's had some rough nights, but the majority of his nights have been very good and some have been fantastic.

I think what hurt us most against tenn was the fact Bediako couldn't go too long. Once he was completely out they took advantage.

Combine that with the refs allowing them to beat us up, it was a perfect storm.

I've been very critical of Bediako, but man what do I know? He may not be the most physical guy but he anchors our defense and protects the rim.

UNC is getting bracketology considerations simply because of their name. Also, their improbable run last year will boost them, if needed.

That's pretty crazy. Vandy is 89th in the net and UNC is 44th.

KenPom has UNC 43 and Vandy 87.

The quad 3 loss and the quad 4 loss drag vandy down a lot.

UNC doesn't really have any terrible losses.

Vandys season comes down to the fact that they lost to USM and Grambling at home. If they'd won those games they'd be on the bubble right now. Because they lost them they basically have to run the table and even then will still be on the bubble.

But they seem to do this every year under Stack. Lose 2-3 horrendous OOC games, look like a really solid team by middle of conference play but have almost no shot to make the tournament.

Last year they lost to VCU, Temple and South Carolina at home. If they win 2 of those 3 games they're in the tournament.
