It really all comes down to the guy, which is a cop out. And it's up to the AD to decided whether the way the guy coaches/recruits will work at the highest level.
That's where having a true basketball guy like Byrne is a huge plus. He knows basketball and he knows basketball people at all levels who he can trust to get honest information on coaches and their programs. Other coaches in a mid major league or major level coaches in the region know if a guy is legit or not. The Izzo stuff was huge for Nate.

The big thing with Nate Oats is that he wasn't a flash in the pan mid-major tourney coach. He made the tourney 3 out of his 4 years at Buffalo, got to the 2nd round twice and gave the higher seed a tough game in the other.
That is more of the profile of mid-major coach you want: he clearly can replicate success. Not some guy who won a conference that is a carousel then got lucky bounces or just lucked out into a one very well constructed team that got hot at the right time.

UCLA has a couple of their main players from when we played them in the sweet 16 two years ago, Tyger Campbell and Jaime Jaquez. I think the only player we have left from that season is Quinerly.

Thank you. I’ll be honest, I believe that I’ll be able to enjoy it more after the season is over. I’m waiting for the bubble to pop. I’m a straight up battered fan.
