Reading the ongoing Tiger Rant meltdown over how fricked their basketball program is for the foreseeable future has been a real source of joy for me.

Does the selection committee use any of Lunardi’s stuff? I appreciate the content but I was just wondering how accurate he’s been over the years.
Edit: After reading about it, no they’re not supposed to, but there have been accusations that they do let the media sway them.
Interesting read on Lunardi. I didn’t know he was the color commentator for St. Joseph’s.

CBS Sports Power Ranking
College basketball power rankings: White-hot Saint Mary's cracks top five, Baylor sneaks into top 10
1. Alabama
Record: 21-3 | Last week: 3. The SEC continues to bow at the power of the Crimson Tide. It was a laugher on Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa, a 97-69 Bama win over Florida. This team has one loss since Dec. 17, the baffling 93-69 shellacking at Oklahoma nearly two weeks back. Other than that, Alabama has outscored opponents by an average of 85-63 in its past 12 wins. At its best, Alabama now has the case as the nation's most dangerous team.

I haven't done this in a few weeks, but here's a breakdown of how much time Alabama has spent leading/trailing/tied in SEC play:
Time leading: 373:16
Time trailing: 54:24
Time tied: 12:20
For context, Alabama has spent an average of 34 minutes per game leading in SEC play.

Alabama basketball paid attendance for SEC games the last two seasons.
2022 ... 10,841 (9 games)
2023 ... 11,208 (6 games)

Every time I see stuff about our attendance numbers I am more convinced that the conspiracy theory about the athletics department lying about them to justify a small arena that will suddenly be sold out for all home games has some truth to it. There is no way there has been an average of 4,000 unpaid seats at our conference games unless 2000 people are managing to sneak in without a ticket.

So I got an answer to the attendance question. According to Byrne at a Tip Off Club meeting today the actual capacity of the arena right now is 11,400, not 13,000. We've lost roughly 2,000 seats over the last 20 years in renovations and because of what they recently deemed to be obstructed view seating. So internally the maximum capacity of the Coliseum is 11,400.
Now.....is that entirely accurate or part of the ploy to build a smaller arena? Dunno.

When did it drop down to 13,000? I've always thought tHangar held a little over 15k.

The numbers may be off a little - my mom sent them from the meeting today after the fact. The bottom line was that the actual max capacity is quite a bit less than listed at this point. And that's the reason that the numbers look so weird.
Or so Byrne said.

Huh. I can certainly see where we would have lost some seats to renovations, but I don't buy it being thousands. I'm guessing the "obstructed view" seating is where most of that reduction is coming from, and it's probably the corner sections where you have to turn your head to actually watch the game. I've sat in a bunch of the worst seats Coleman has to offer and none of them had an actual obstructed view.
So I'd still chalk it all up to fuzzy math to justify a 10-11,000 seat arena.
