Love that we have the best offense, but this seems to suggest we are a pretty average defense. I think this just confirms that we have been giving up a lot of open looks, but teams have been generally shooting a low % on them keeping our points per possession metrics pretty decent (and likely overstating our defensive effectiveness). We better figure things out on that side of the ball, because there won’t be many teams in late March that can’t hit open shots.
Tenn might be the only team in the SEC that fits that “good shooters” profile, but there are a bunch in other conferences. Mizzou may fit that profile as well when Brown is playing and hitting 3s. Auburn is too streaky, KY has awful shooters, Arky can’t shoot, A&M is athletic but haven’t seen them enough to know if they have consistent shooters, and nobody else is NCAA caliber to even speak of. Since Mizzou wasn’t full strength and missed a ton of open looks, we literally will be tested once by that type of team in conf @Tenn. Maybe @AU if they are “on” that game, but A&M proved that good defense can shut that down as well. Oats needs to get the guys to buy into not giving up open looks, because that may work in the SEC but it won’t in March.

These metrics just absolutely love Houston
We deserved to drop but Houston should still not be above us
But this ranking is pointless in time. Win and it won’t matter, excited for a new game tomorrow!

Everytime Bama basketball reaches a high point of achievement, they absolutely shite the bed hard. I've never seen us maintain excellence in mens basketball. Not happy about it but at some point we have to learn how to handle success and maintain excellence of play.

I haven’t seen or heard half of the posters like you until Saturday
You got your excitement and chance to sound off after our loss Saturday, you done yet??
18-3, 8-0 in SEC and are top 5 in the country. If you thought we were going undefeated the rest of the season you were asinine
This whole “same ol’ bama basketball” shtick is getting old quick. Go find another team to watch if that’s how you feel. Just insane at this point the stuff im reading from some

I'm as jaded towards Alabama basketball as you can be and even I am fed up with the negativity from these assholes. We're going to the tournament for a 3rd year in a row after making it twice from 2007-2020. If you want to talk about what we are struggling with and things we need to improve on, bring it on. If you want to complain just to complain, take it somewhere else.

Why don’t we wait and see how the season plays out first. I remember not too long ago just hoping we make the tournament and now we’re going for a 3rd straight year and still have a chance to be a 1 seed
If we had to lose a game I’d rather it be out of conference like Saturday. And we will probably still lose a couple conference games. It’s basketball, that stuff happens.

It’s a new week and it’s time for fans and our team to regroup and focus on Vandy. I trust our coaching staff to correct these issues and be ready to go tomorrow night. And even though the loss sucked we’re so fortunate to still be looking at a number one seed and all of our goals are still there after this loss. We still control our own destiny.

I think we beat one of those two teams if not both on the road.
Sears, Bradley, & Clowney all have struggled lately and it's cause Brandon Miller to force things because he's not getting any help from his teammates.
I believe Tuesday night they all crank back up and start playing with a sense of urgency.

Trojan and Robot, I said "We have never maintained a high level of success. At some point we have to learn how to handle success and maintain excellence of play.".....Teams come out and physically challenge a little and we start folding and can't maintain our shot consistency. If I am incorrect in what I said, prove me wrong

I would say 18-3 is maintaining a high level of success but find the faults man. The team certainly isn't perfect.
I'd say we've folded once which is not much of a trend.

The AP Poll is pointless outside of wanting to see a nice number by your name during a broadcast. It'd be nice to eventually be #1 again but the ranking doesn't mean as much when most voters basically just rank by W/L and name recognition.
I like looking at the metrics because it gives you an idea of how you statistically measure up to other schools but even their own rankings are dependent on each individual formula that's being used.
Like you said, just keep winning and it doesn't really matter. At this point in the season, we know the main strengths and weaknesses of every team in the country. It's now on who is going to gear up for their run in March.
