I think the takeaway is if a team runs a pick and roll heavy offense and has a 250+ pound post player, we are going to have major problems.

Bingo.

We need Oats to basically buy into Pringle and hope he can be that guy because Bediako doesn't have it.

If Bediako can’t consistently be the dude he was against Kentucky then his arse needs to be benched. He’s been in the program too long for this.

I get your point but why we got beat is important.

This isn't a one game thing. We have shot poorly for some weeks now and we have been figured out. Teams know that with how we play Bediako is a significant weak point which they attack. As long as you have a big boy down low he will maul him which we will need to send help to cover.

Then offensively we aren't making open shots. I don't know how to fix that but that is a harbinger of a warning for the NCAalA tournament. Every team we face will play just like Gonzaga, MSU (second time) and Oklahoma.

Yeah we haven't shot well since them.

However we got beat badly and almost lost to MSU because our defense. Oklahoma shouldn't score 70 talk much whatever they scored on us and had we had a good anchor at center who would get physical they wouldn't have.

Exactly. Bediako should come off the bench. What is he offering us on either end. He can’t even secure a rebound. I love Oats but he needs to tweak some of his philosophies or we’ll never get to a final four. I’d also get rid of the hard hat award with this performance. Back to the basics everyone should earn their spot in the starting lineup. We need a complete rebuild before we turn into UConn l.

We played awful and got the shite kicked out of us. Unfortunately that can happen, especially on the road. I don’t see it as a referendum that we are screwed going forward.

I’ll let the rest of y’all doom and gloom the season like Jimmy Dykes was doing.

Congratulations on not being a window licking fricktard like 90% of the people who have posted in this thread over the last couple of hours. We played like arse against a mediocre OU team in Norman a couple of years ago too. It happens. UConn kicked our asses too. Basketball is not like football. Losing a game here and there isn't some negative referendum on the entire season.

SOG and you are the best posters in this thread. Never a bad take.

I mentioned the other day that some of the starters needed to be benched and Bed was the main one I was thinking of. I got crucified by some on here who told me the record speaks for itself. Last game 3 starters had a combined 8 points. I have not seen the stats from today's game. 69 and 66 points in the last two games will need to improve to win 6 in a row in the dance.

We just aren’t equipped to win a rock fight right now. The adjustment seems pretty straightforward - we have to go small. Houston was up 17 on us until we did. We went small in the 2nd half of Miss State to come back. The reasons are multiple:
- Chuck is simply worthless against post players with big bodies and even a little bit of skill.
- Clowney can’t hit shite. Oats’ system requires 4/5 players on the court to be threats from deep. Chuck isn’t, and now Clowney isn’t. Put him at the 5.
- With Clowney at the 5, everyone is switchable. That helps defense out a TON. Can help double the post if necessary because recovering is easier.

Until Chuck stops being a pussy and Clowney hits shots, this is the only option.

Just catching up on the board today, and while there are some completely idiotic takes on here (seems like a couple have to be trolls), there were some pretty bad downvotes of the best pre-game and mid-game takes.

Shout out to East Coast as the best poster today and nailed the pre-game post despite getting 0 upvotes (I gave him 1) and 5 sunshine pumping downvotes.
Dalton quote:
After the scare the team had earlier this week, I think we'll see a sharper team
East Coast:
Why do I just not buy this?

I'm hoping you're right, but we've been trending down in 3 pointers, and I'm imagining that not to suddenly improve.
Maybe it's my typical distrust in Alabama basketball I've had for decades.

BigFolks had some questionable takes, but this one was completely accurate despite another slew of very bad downvotes:
“ I agree but it’s not just Miller. Our team flops too much Clowney Bediako and miller all do it. I won’t be mad if we drop a game but our last three games we’ve had the same lackadaisical energy and that lies primarily on coaching. Teams know we won’t shoot midrange shots so they are just only defending the three point or the paint. Clowney bricking as many threes as he has is coaching but Oats is still growing just as our team is. Hopefully we can become more physical and find some inner girth.”

Brandon’s flop at the end of the first half was so, so bad. Clowney has a reputation for it as well. Both hustle on rebounds and try to take legitimate charges as well, but this flopping stuff has to stop. It’s embarrassing.

Everyone laughed at the OK message board for posting that we aren’t quick, turns out they may know a bit more about good basketball after seeing their team play the best teams in the best conference. We couldn’t stay in front of anyone and looked extremely slow of foot on defense.

All that said, you have take the humbling and flush this one. Get back to work. Yes, OK shot out of their minds. But this loss didn’t come out of nowhere, we’ve been giving up open 3 point looks for awhile now but teams have just been missing (see Mizzou game). There’s some concerning trends that have to get fixed.

I’m fine with Clowney and Sears bricking good open shots in the regular season to try and find their shot. We need them right to have a chance in March. If Clowney’s still broken in March, then Oats better take away the green light. Bradley looks like a shell of himself and has to snap out of this funk. Oats isn’t giving him much space to work through it, but maybe he’s struggling in practice too.

A loss to a hot shooting team is one thing, but getting pantsed in a completely uncompetitive game while looking like the basketball version of Bad News Bears should never happen to a team with this much talent. Time for this team to figure out how to pick themselves off the mat and keep fighting! All goals still within reach, but they won’t be handed to us. You have to take them with authority!

P.S. Hoping Oats learned something from last year and has a better plan to help these guys through a bad stretch of play. Different team, but he needs to get them some confidence back while also demanding maximum effort.

Bediako did great vs Bacot and Tshibwe. Its the 30 year white guys like Timme and Groves he is having problems with.

Wed should have ignited this team. 2 starters had 5 points. 2 bench players at 28. 5 has earned the right to be a starter. Miller had 11 and his last couple of games have been under his previous average. Are teams figuring out how to play him. Big white guy for OK had 3 blocks in first 5-6 min and two were against Miller. First team we play in the dance with a dominant big man will more than likely beat us. And if that big man can hit the outside shot then we going to struggle.

Bediako doesn’t have the mass to get physical to hold his ground in the paint. He can run the floor well, but he needs about 40lbs of good weight

I think it’s normal for teams to have bad games through the season. This is a good team regardless of today. It’s a young team, still got some growing to do. Could be a little tired right now, been a tough schedule for them on the road. We’ll se how they rebound from this.
