I took that as him making a joke, because of how bad they got their arse kicked. They're definitely going to watch the film.

Question for the Alabama basketball historians: what is the record for Alabama players drafted from the same roster?

With Miller Clowney pretty much sure things and then guys like Bradley, Bediako, and maybe a couple others having a chance in future drafts I was wondering how it would compare to the most "NBA draft pick" rosters Alabama has ever had on the same roster.

Couldn't remember the roster overlap of all the later 80s, early 90s guys which was kind of Alabama's draft hey day I guess.

Guess it's not apples to apple pre-1989 when the draft was more than 2 rounds either.

In terms of 1 and 2nd round guys on the same team, I found the 1985-86 roster with:

Derrick McKey - 1st round
Jim Farmer - 1st round
Buck Johnson - 1st round
Michael Ansley - 2nd round
Terry Coner - 2nd round
(Also had Gotfried - 7th round pick but can't really count that in this kind of comparison)

86-87 team had:

McKey
Farmer
Ansley
Coner
And then Askins who had a decent NBA career but was undrafted so technically doesn't count for this comparison

91-92 had

Robert Horry - 1st
Latrell Sprewell - 1st
James Robinson - 1st
Jason Caffey - 2nd

93-94 and 94-95 had

Caffey
Antonio McDyess - 1st
Roy Rogers - 1st
Eric Washington - 2nd

Is five the record for 1st/2nd round guys on the same team with a few other rosters having four?

I was going to say without diving into it that my guess was it had to be one of those 80s teams or the early 90s team once Spree came in.

There have been some teams since then that had 2 (Herb/Sexton, Hendrix/Davidson).

I'd add that with the infusion of more one and dones along with more HS and non-US players (i.e., non-college players) in the draft, five on the same roster seems really really hard to have now.

Another historic defensive performance by Alabama on Saturday: Kentucky's 0.76 offensive PPP mark was their lowest in over 10 years. The last time UK had a worse performance? December 1, 2012, a 64-55 loss with 75 possessions (0.73 PPP) to Baylor in Rupp Arena.

I still have my souvenir ticket featuring Alabama legend Evan Brock from the Coleman "grand re-opening" in 2005.

I hope Byrne is paying attention. Will be interesting to see if it turns into a "build one or I walk situations"

Oats is a smart man. He played off the arena and only wanted to talk about NIL all year. As soon as the Texas job opens, the first chance he gets he’s like hey we need that arena. Puts pressure on Byrne and whoever has the money.

He won't walk because of a capital project that's 3-4 years from completion at the earliest. He's noted before that practice facilities and NIL are most important, but I think he can finally float this out there given recent success.

We all know a new arena would be nice, but it's not a panacea. Ole Miss has an awesome facility and they're a dumpster fire.

I doubt he would have mentioned it if it wasn't important to him. Based on where we are right now, we'd be heading into a new arena with a very solid coach and program, unlike Ole Miss.

Not only during the timespan of the Texas job opening but also beating Kentucky by the widest margin in program history. Sure we've had some big wins over the last few years but that kinda win, from blueblood name recognition alone, is Oats walking to the table and writing down whatever he wants.

yep. That’s one of the games the football only Bama fans will show up to and watch. You win those games in blowout fashion in front of those people who have the money while Saban is in the house watching, you’ve got a chance to sway some of them now

I wish we could move that idiotic late December "early" signing day for football back to August and make January OVs matter again. Saban telling big money FOG boosters how much an electric basketball atmosphere helps on football OVs would move the needle a lot.
