Dropped 30 without a three pointer while being face guarded most of the night. It's why I wanted us to pursue him in the off season. He's tough.

Noah Clowney Wins Hard Hat Award
"Clowney got the hard hat again. So we've got different guys stepping up and we need to get some older guys playing a little better but it's nice to have the depth we have," said Alabama basketball head coach Nate Oats.
The first-year player has been a huge help to this Crimson Tide team. Prior to tonight's game, he has recorded 204 minutes on the court, averaging 8.3 rebounds per game, and 9.4 points per game. Defensively, he has made 12 blocks and seven steals.
Clowney leads the team in defensive rebounds, has the second-most total rebounds, average rebounds per game, and second-most steals and blocks; has the third-most minutes, field goals made, field goal attempts, three-point attempts, total points, average points per game, and offensive rebounds, as well as the fourth-highest field goal percentage and three-pointers,

We really missed Burnett last night. Davis is the kind of player who can get hot and drag a team deep into the tournament.

Davis is a damn dude. Perfect fit for them to drop in with a team of 25 year old SEC LB looking dudes who defend, rebound and dunk.

In a letdown spot against a red hot athletic team of grown arse men, our young squad rose up. And we were missing arguably the most important player for the matchup. I’m over the moon

100% agree. Given all the circumstances that was a fantastic win.

Nimari had surgery yesterday and the stated timeline for his return is 6-8 weeks.
Six weeks from yesterday is 1/24/23 (we play State on 1/25/23).
Eight weeks from yesterday is 2/7/23 (we play Florida on 2/8/23).

He's got to be best PG in the country right? Looked like an NBA player playing against college players last night.

the stated timeline for his return is 6-8 weeks
quote:
“Nimari’s timeframe is 6-8 weeks,” said head coach Nate Oats after the home win over the Tigers. “It’s similar to what Herb (Jones) had, but we don’t wanna bring him back with a cast on his hand. He’s not Herb that’s gonna pull up 17 rebounds and can kind of play him as a center on offense. He’s a shooting guard, so shooting guards need to be able to pass, dribble, shoot. We’re gonna bring him back when he can play with a brace on his hand, not a case. That’s why it will be a little longer, but it’s the same injury Herb had our first year here.”
Jones suffered a fractured left wrist in February of 2020 but only missed three games before he returned to the floor with a hard cast. But as Oats said, Burnett is more of a shooter than Jones and will not be rushed back to action in an effort to heal his surgically-repaired wrist.
quote:
Another absence on the Alabama bench was assistant coach Bryan Hodgson, who wasn’t seen during the win over the Tigers. Oats explained why Hodgson was missing on Tuesday.
“Hodgson was out sick,” Oats said. “We didn’t want him to get the rest of the team (sick). It’s just an illness. He’ll be back with the team Saturday as long as he’s feeling better. He met with Dr. Buettner. We just wanted to make sure we didn't give an illness to the rest of the team.”
Oats provides postgame updates on Nimari Burnett, Bryan Hodgson (BOL)
ETA: I posted this because — and it may be wishful thinking on my part — it seems like he could be back earlier if needed, maybe in a defensive role, but that we're being really conservative here to make to sure he comes back strong offensively. So hopefully that 6-8 weeks is a worst-case scenario, and not best-case.

Better work on in bounding the ball. We look atrocious at it. Pearl will eat us alive on it if we don't improve.

Face guarded well at that. It's crazy what he did considering how well we defended him. Plus, he went for long stretches where he missed shots or didn't even try to shoot. Kid could have put up 50 if he really got selfish.

I want everyone to know the sacrifices I am making for this team. I have hardly watched them play because whenever I turn a game on, things go south. So I just don't watch and they keep winning.

BTW, how many of us thought "oh, shite" last night when Miles got early PT?
Gotta give him credit, dude balled out (to the best of his ability) when the opportunity arose.
